History of Trailer Craft

· Alaska owned and operated since 1969.

· 20 years worth of experience.

· Member of NMEDA since 1999 (National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association.)

Who benefits from trailer craft and who can call?

Trailer Craft deals with

· Driver Evaluators / Trainers.

· Equipment manufacturers

Who can Trailer Craft bill for services?

· Medicaid Chore Waivers. (Authorization is required.)

· Veteran’s Administration (Authorization is required.)

· Vocational Rehab (Authorization is required.)

· Local businesses if they have an open account established with the company.

· Private Pay.

Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles

· Full size Vans

· Lowered floor Mini Vans

· Trailer craft says that in Alaska they can’t drop the floors in vehicles. Please call them and they will help you out in getting the right vehicle for you that they can modify.

· They also recommend that wheelchairs are inside the vehicles as well.

Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles

· They work with private and commercial use vehicles to make them wheelchair accessible.

· They are the ONLY authorized BraunAbility new and used vehicle dealer and vehicle service center in Alaska.

Lifts

· SUV’S, mini vans, full size vans all work best in getting a lift installed.

· They have the curb sider lift and the Joey Lift.

· They also have available the turning automotive seating. (This allows people to be able to go from seat to wheelchair.)

Wheelchair Restraints / driving Controls.

· They have two restraints the Automatic tie down and the retractable restraint (recommended.)

· Driving controls are left foot gas petal, hand controls, spinner knobs.

· Know that if you get a driving control training on the device is needed before instillation. And you must have a Dr Note stating that you need one installed.

Kara Thrasher-Livingston

Denise asked about the new Care Coordinator Standards that were attached in an E-Alert.

Kara stated that she herself has questions about the new standards and if you have questions please email her so she can get answers. Also there is a meeting tomorrow about the standards and that people should attend.

Plan of Care and CC standards will come out around the same time.

Training for CC is outdated and they are in the process of getting it up to date. An E-Alert will be out on or around April 15th to make it so curriculum will be updated and a new website that makes “friends” to update change.

Jill Wheeler from Catholic Social Services of Eagle River

· They have a new location in Eagle River.

· Catholic Social Services has tripled their participants. They can’t recruit participants only give out information so make sure you call or have the participant call for information.

· They are a non-profit organization.

· They charge $25.00 for guest user fees, $25.00 for four hours or $50.00 a day.

· They have three well trained staff members with over 25 years of experience.

· The program works around the individual not the individual around the program.

· Ages to get service are anyone not in school district programs.

· To get a tour they ask that you call ahead of time as they may not be in the office due to activates.
