I wish to be a member of Buxton Cycling Club and agree to the following conditions:

1.  A Member will be willing to take part in all Club activities. For example: club runs, club fundraising, attend meetings, and assist in the running or taking part in club events.

2.  Club Subscriptions to be paid as detailed in the Constitution.

For 2017: Senior (over 18) £12.00

Junior (16 – 18) £5.00

Juveniles (under 16) £1.00

Family £15.00

3.  Any person wishing to leave the Club will resign in writing to the Secretary.

The Club reserves the right to refuse any application and to expel any member who commits an act detrimental to the Club as detailed in the Constitution (for details, contact Paul Attiwell by email at ).

All Buxton CC members must hold personal third party insurance to cover such member in the event of a claim made against such member by a third party. I confirm that I will hold appropriate third party insurance at all times whilst I am a member of Buxton Cycling Club. Such insurance is held with:

BUXTON CYCLING CLUB CONSTITUTION

The following Constitution was agreed at a meeting on 12 February 1990, and amendments were agreed at the Annual General Meetings on 14 September 1993, 18 September 2006, 24 September 2007 and 15 September 2016.

In this document, "the Club" refers to Buxton Cycling Club.

1.  The Club shall be called "Buxton Cycling Club".

2.  The aim of the Club shall be the encouragement of cycling.

3.  These laws and rules shall govern the Club.

4.  The Club vest shall be predominantly blue.

5.  The financial year shall end on 31 December.

6.  The income and property of the Club shall be applied to its stated aims and in the event of the dissolution of the Club any income or property remaining shall not be distributed amongst members but shall be donated to a club or association with similar aims or to some charitable purpose.

7.  The Club shall not be dissolved except by consent of two thirds of registered Club members.

8.  The Club shall hold an Annual General Meeting in the month of September.

9.  An Extraordinary General Meeting shall be held when at least 20% of the Club's members make a request to the Secretary in writing. Such a meeting must take place within 28 days of the request.

10.  A notice stating the time, place and agenda of every General Meeting shall be sent to all the Club members at least 7 days before the date of such a meeting.

11.  At least 14 days’ notice of every motion to be placed on the agenda of every General Meeting shall be sent to the Secretary, in writing, with the names of the proposer and seconder.

12.  The Club shall comprise of ordinary members and honorary life members.

13.  The annual subscription for ordinary members shall be decided at a General Meeting.

14.  Candidates for honorary life membership shall be proposed and seconded by three Club members and shall be elected or excluded at the discretion of two thirds of the current membership.

15.  The Secretary shall maintain a current membership List.

16.  Any member wishing to resign must signify his/her intention in writing to the Secretary.

17.  Any member changing his/her address shall give notice in writing to the Secretary within one month of the change.

18.  Club subscriptions are due within one month from 1 January each year. A reminder will be sent to any member who fails to pay his/her membership renewal by the end of February. A new member paying his/her subscription on or after 1 October shall continue to be a member until 31 December of the following year without further payment.

19.  No member of the Club shall receive payment for his/her services as a member.

20.  At the Annual General Meeting of the Club officials shall be elected as required.

21.  Members of the committee shall not hold office in any other cycling club.

22.  The Club shall have the power to elect delegates to any club or association to which it is affiliated.

23.  The Club shall have the power to elect sub-committees.

24.  Sub-committees shall have the power to co-opt additional members.

25.  Any member who has not paid his/her subscription by 31 March shall be removed from the membership list and shall no longer be a member.

26.  The Club shall have the power to expel any member whose conduct is obnoxious, dangerous or harmful to other members or is not in keeping with the reputation of the Club.

27.  Before the Club takes action against a member, the member has the right to a hearing by a Disciplinary Committee comprised of the Secretary, Chairman and Treasurer.

28.  The minutes of the proceedings of the Club, whether in General or Committee meetings, shall be signed by the Chairman presiding at such a meeting.

29.  General eligibility for Club events:

a.  Championships - only first claim members shall be eligible.

b.  Other Events - all members shall be eligible.

30.  The winner of a Club trophy must give the Secretary an undertaking that the trophy will be returned in good condition to the Club before the next competition for the trophy, or after one year, whichever is the shorter period.

31.  The Secretary is to be notified of any team trophy won on the Club's behalf and the names of the Club members holding such a trophy in safekeeping.

32.  No rule shall be altered or deleted except at a General Meeting and then only by a majority of two thirds of the Club members present.

33.  All members shall take out third party insurance.
