OMS students have an exciting opportunity to become a member of band, chorus or orchestra in middle school. We hope that your child will be part of a program that offers musical training, performance opportunities, and new challenges. Involvement in music enhances young people’s lives, helping them to develop qualities of self-reliance, personal integrity, responsibility, compassion, and confidence in their abilities.

If you wish to have your child participate in band, chorus, or orchestra, please fill out the information at the bottom and return it with your child’s registration papers.
v Band, chorus, and orchestra are performance classes. Daily participation and performances are required and part of a student’s grade. After-school events are kept to a minimum (approximately 4-6 times per year). This policy is consistent with all high-quality music programs.
v Participation in band, chorus, or orchestra is a year-long commitment. The teacher, counseling department, and an administrator must approve any exceptions.
v Students in band, chorus, or orchestra will participate in two connection classes; one of which will be band, chorus, or orchestra. The other connections class will rotate each nine weeks.
