This week there are some special events:

This week our focus will be:
Math: We will be finishing our Chapter 7, 3-Digit Subtraction. Chapter test will be Tuesday.
*Math homework policy*Homework will be based on what lesson we finish in class and the students will be able to do their homework in class and take home any unfinished work and turn it all in on Friday. There will not be any list of what to do on each day for math on this homework packet, as this might change based on what lessons we get to in class.
Reading: This week in Daily 5 Reading Workshop we will be finishing ourunit “All About Characters.” We will continue with our book clubs with fiction texts.
Writing:In Writer’s Workshop we will be continuing our writing unit, “Writing to Persuade Others.”
Spelling: The spelling words this week are
- The Vowel Sound in for: for, door, story, snore, horse, four, floor, corn, or, short, more, storm, orange, store
- Challenge Word: board
A reminder, if a student gets all spelling words correct on the pre-test, they will not have to do the spelling worksheets in this packet; but I do suggest doing the challenge worksheets.
Religion: We will be continuing our unit “We Celebrate the Gift of Eucharist” with Chapter 16, We Pray Like Jesus.
Social Studies: In Social Studies, we willcontinue our chapter on “Rules and Laws for Everyone?”Also,we will continue working on our geography.
Science: Our science question of the week will be “Why does the moon change shape?”
Homework for the week:
*For all homework, please review all problems and confirm they are correct. If they are incorrect, please have your student correct the problem.
Reading Log: 25 minutes of reading nightly, please have students fill out the reading log attached.Students can read aloud to parents, siblings/family members, or read silently; just reading for 25 minutes a day minimum. Please remember, a parent initials are also required on the reading logs.
Spelling Homework:
-Pages 250-253
-Practice spelling test (paper provided) – After the practice test is corrected by the parent, have the student write out each word they missed 5 times on the back of the practice test.Reminder, no practice or spelling test for students who passed pre-test with 100%.
Challenge:A reminder these Challenge Worksheets are NOT required and only need to be done if you feel your child wants more challenging work.

Challenge Spelling:Crossword Time!, Put Them in Order
Reminder Wednesday and Friday, we have PE, please make sure students wear appropriate shoes and if girls have long hair, it needs to be tied back.
Tuesdays are our library day, please make sure all library books are returned by then.
