(1)  Introduction

Congratulations on purchasing USAlert’s AP90 pager. This compact pager uses many advances in electronic and wireless technology that allows you to receive an alphanumeric message instantly.

1. Display: 4 line to 2 line zoom

20 characters per line

2. Four individual addresses

3. Memory: Personal – 24 messages: total 13,100 characters

Public – 28 messages: total 16,308 characters

4. Capacity: English/Spanish message has a limit capacity

of 1920 characters. Total 29,408 characters.

5. Language Support: English and Spanish

6. Message protection available:

Personal – 6 messages

Public – 6 messages

7. Displays the date and time of the message received at the end of message.

8. 4 Alert Modes: Vibration, tone, melody and silent alert.

9. Reminder chirp for unread personal/public messages (the reminder is every two minutes).

10. Delete all/one message.

11. Warning of the message is full/covered: When the capacity of personal / public message is over 13,100 (16,308) letters, the screen will show “memory full”. When the number of personal / public message is over 24 / 28, the screen will show “over flow”. The oldest message will be deleted and covered automatically.

12. Has a perpetual calendar (1999-2020); time display can be set in 12 or 24 hours.

13. Has 15 different alerting tones. Personal and public message alerts can be set separately.

14. EL panel display. Adjustable brightness (0 - 9 scale).

15. Displays error and duplicate messages, automatically.

16. Battery back-up. Messages are stored (saved) in memory to prevent loss for 20 seconds. After 20 seconds, messages are lost and time must be reset.

17. Power save mode. If you do not receive any message or press any key for more than 8 seconds, the screen will shut off automatically to save power. When a new message arrives, or any key is pressed, the screen will be switched on automatically and the new message will be displayed.

18. Backlight: press the left and right arrow at the same time. It remains on for four seconds after the last button is pressed.

4. Unread message.

5. Sound mode. Displays when pager is set to tone, melody or vibe.

Mute mode. No icon shows when pager is set to silent (mute).

6. Alarm setting indication.

8. Date (MM / DD / YY)

9. Time indication (HH:MM AM/PM)

10. Public message indicator

11.  Personal message indicator

12.  Duplicate message indicator

13.  Protect (lock) message indicator

(5) Function Setting

Press to enter into the function setting mode.

5.1  Set Alert

Perform the following steps to set the alert mode for public and private messages.

Press until “Set Alert?” displays.

Press to enter “set alert” menu.

Press to choose personal data alert setting.

OR

Press to choose public data (mail drops) alert setting. *All mail drops must be programmed the same.

Press to choose public data setting. (example selecting sound mode for public messages)

Press to shift cursor and choose motor, mute or sound mode. (In this case we chose sound)

Press to enter sound mode.

5.1.1  Sound Mode

Press to choose from the 15 songs.

Press to play/stop listening.

Press to confirm the chosen song.

5.2  Pager Off

This allows the user to turn off the pager to save the battery life.

Press until “Pager Off” displays.

Press to turn the pager off.

Press for 2 seconds to power on.

5.3  Delete ?

This allows the user to delete an individual message.

While reading a message, press until “Delete?” displays.

Press to confirm deletion of the current message.

5.4  Delete All ?

This function is not available unless you read all the messages first. This protects from deleting unread messages accidentally.

Press until “Delete All?” displays.

Press to delete all messages.

Press to confirm deletion.

5.5  Unread On/Off (Reminder Alert)

This screen allows the user to remind his/herself that a message has came in and he/she has not read the message.

Press until you get to Unread On/Off

Press to confirm Unread On/Off function (the reminder alert will sound every 2 minutes).

5.6  Set Date & Time?

This screen allows the user to set both date and time.

Press until “Set Time?” displays.

Press to set time.

Press to change the number.

Press to shift the cursor.

Press to confirm the setting.

5.7  Set Alarm?

This screen allows the user to set two alarms.

Press until “Set Alarm?” displays.

Press to set alarm.

Press to enter the number and turn On or Off alarm setting.

Press to shift cursor.

Press to confirm the setting.

*The alarm will last for 10 seconds.

5.8 Set Auto?

Press until “Set Auto?” displays.

Press to enter into the time mode.

Press to turn on and turn off the set auto function.

Press to shift cursor.

Press to change time.

Press to confirm the setting.

* Message can be received while in power save mode.

* Y means to turn on the Set Auto function and, the logo will be flashing on the standby screen.

5.9  Set Contrast?

Press until “Set Contrast?” displays.

Press to enter into contrast mode.

Press or to change number 0 - 9 to set the brightness.

Press to confirm setting.

5.10  Set Banner?

This allows the user to personalize their start-up screen with a page. You must page the pager with the message you want before you can set banner.

Press until “Set Banner?” displays.

Press to confirm the setting.

Enter Set Banner mode again and press to display the new home page screen.

* The home page screen will show the first 7 characters of the latest personal message.

* Original home page screen cannot be returned after banner setting unless it is reset with the programmer.

5.11  Zoom?

This allows the user to make the print on the pager larger or smaller.

Press until “Zoom” displays.

Press to change from 4 to 2 line display mode.

Press to cancel and return to standby screen.

(6) Messages Management

6.1  Read Message

Press or to read the message.

Press to read public messages.

Press to read personal messages.

Press to shift cursor and highlight the message you want to read.

Press to read message.

Press to see date and time the message was received.

* 03/06 1:00PM is the date and time (Month/Day and Hour/Minute) the message was received.

* [04] means the 4th message received.

* 1 means the first individual address.

* “A” means a numeric message was received. “B, C or D” means an alphanumeric message was received.

* Means repeated messages.

* Means the message has been locked.

Turn on night illumination:

Press and at the same time, the night illumination will last for 5 seconds and shut off automatically.

Press l to turn on night illumination and release to shut off.

6.2  Protect / Unprotect (Lock / Unlock message)

This allows the user to protect messages from being deleted.

When reading a message or receiving a message,

Press to enter into the Protect/Unprotect (lock/unlock) mode

Press to confirm.

6.3 Tone Only

When a message is received that does not have any content, “TONE ONLY” will be shown on the screen.

6.4 Error Message

When an error message is received, “E” will be shown on the screen to express an error.

6.5 Memory Full Alert

Warning of the memory is full/covered.

When the message capacity is over 13,100 (personal) / 16,308 (public) characters, the screen will show “memory full”.

When the number of messages is over 24 (personal) / 28 (public), the screen will show “over flow”. The oldest message will be deleted and replaced automatically.
