Responsible for:Team of site officers/handyman/caretakers and contract cleaners, coffee shop supervisor and team.

JOB PURPOSE

Responsibility for the general upkeep and cleanliness of the buildings, scheduling building servicing, organise repairs and routine maintenance at Brook Street and John Mansfield Centre. Assisting the extended Day Opportunities service at out centres and any temporary venues of City College Peterborough, by providing facilities support, light maintenance and repairs at these locations, from in house Facilities team. Developing and maintaining quality and customer service, providing a good standard of facilities for our learners, tutors, staff and clients, in a clean, safe and friendly environment on our campus sites. To be the College’s Health and Safety Officer and the lead person on environmental accreditation, thus demonstrating best practice and leading on green initiatives.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and lead a team of specialist staff to achieve objectives which include a minimum Grade 2 in OfSTED inspection
  • Take responsibility for the Coffee Shop Team and manage the coffee shop budget
  • Take responsibility for the building maintenance and repairs budget and associated buildings contracts, place works orders and monitor quality of contracted works.
  • Monitor and report on the KPI’s from the contracted cleaning service at Brook Street.
  • Gain best value for building/facilities projects and services through a tender process, liaise with contractors/architects and specialists throughout works projects, be the lead on all building and facilities matters.
  • Manage and maintain the building and servicing contracts as required by law and legislation.
  • Monitor utilities usage, reduce costs where possible and work with the green group to recycle assets and reduce consumption of consumables. Maintain green accreditation.
  • Take responsibility for the College Insurance.
  • Take responsibility for the Site Officer/Handyman/caretaking and cleaners team
  • Take responsibility for the cleanliness, health and safety, security and general College environment; this includes other sites and at any temporary venues used by the Service.
  • Act as the Health and Safety Officer for the Service/College and liaise with other staff who hold a responsibility for Health and Safety. Induct all new starters in H&S.
  • Take responsibility for asset management and vehicle management, maintenance and running costs.
  • Achieve any financial and other agreed objectives
  • Take responsibility for the quality of the teaching environment and equipment
  • Work in partnership with other support services for example, customer service and curriculum teams; to ensure that corporate targets are met and to maximise customer satisfaction.
  • With the ESLT, provide key information for the Balanced Scorecard, sense check the ITM weekly and work with the group to meet the broader College objectives, such as GDPR compliance.
  • Participate in maintaining the Investors in People Standard (IIP) and quality standards
