COMPANY OVERVIEW

Avwatch, Inc. (Avwatch) delivers real-time situational awareness needed to respond to emergency events. Whether an impending natural disaster or a security risk threatens, Avwatch is your solution.

The company was founded in 2008 and is comprised of nationally recognized Homeland Security experts who are well-versed in military, federal, state and local disaster response planning and response protocols. Avwatch technology has been used to assist in oil cleanup following the 2010 explosion on BP’s Deepwater Horizon drilling rig, where they provided high-quality streaming video to the US Coast Guard, BP and authorities to assist with oil spill cleanup. Avwatch provides Homeland Security professionals and corporations with a low-cost solution capable of conducting routine patrols efficiently and effectively. The company also provides training for U.S. Air Force Pilots prior to overseas deployment, and has been instrumental in rescue during extreme weather conditions, including hurricanes. In addition to firefighting, the technology is also used by multiple law enforcement agencies. Avwatch maintains headquarters at Plymouth, MA Municipal Airportand serves a national client base.

PRODUCTS AND SERVICES

Avwatch develops, manufactures and employs aerial Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) communication technologies to support, enhance, and train federal, state, and local government agencies in support of various Homeland Security missions. The company’s unique aerial communication network permits Homeland Security professionals the freedom to interact directly between air and ground assets, including generating flight routes, specifying intelligence requirements, controlling onboard camera sensors, and sending and receiving audio, video, and text over a distributed, interactive network. Communications between ground users, vehicles, dismounted individuals, and aircraft are internet-supported, allowing users and aircraft to communicate in real time, anywhere in the world.

EXPERIENCE

AVWATCH SUCCESSFULLY CONNECTED CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL (CHP)headquarters with an Avwatch aircraft, as well as, a CAL FIRE OV-10 operating in San Diego County via their Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) demonstrating the ability for air, vehicle, and dismount assets from different agencies to be seamlesslyutilized throughout the state using tactical routers and protocols.

The demonstration resulted in CHP’s decision to begin a statewide deployment of the technology as part of the recapitalization of their 30 fixed and rotary wing aircraft. The solution will seamlessly merge commercially available 3G/4G with CHP owned broadband data links, and LMR radios.

UNDER A JOINT CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY AND FIRE PROTECTION (CAL FIRE) and MIT-Lincoln Labsinitiative, Avwatch provides consulting, design, installation and training supportfor the sensor and downlink installation onboard the CAL FIRE Air Attack OV-10 and mobile ground units in supervisor vehicles, utilizing Mobile Ad hoc Networking (MANET) Technology.

Avwatch’s support enables responders to not only achieve enhanced situational awareness of fire burn patternsthrough the use of infra-red imagery, but to record video documentation of incidents for training and/or prosecution purposes.

DURING THE 119th BOSTON MARATHON Avwatch built a MANET along the Boston Marathon route and surrounding towns, linking MEMA Headquarters, MSP located at Logan International Airport, Massachusetts State Police (MSP) Marathon Lead Vehicle, MSP STOP Team, and multiple MSP ground personnel together, using a combination of ATAK EUDs and Portable GroundNodes.

End users were able to pull FMV from the Avwatch High Bird, MSP Helicopter, and ground personnel/units, specifically the Lead Van and MSP STOP Team. The provided capability of streaming ground video was an intricate part of the overall success due to the weather and cloud layer that interfered with the Aircraft feed at 7,500 ft. The key stakeholders, MEMA, MSP, BRIC, and FBI were appreciative of our support, and look forward to working together for future events.
