OPENINGS – POST STAFF AND PUBLIC

  • BARCODER – PART-TIME HOURLY – Technical Services Department, Headquarters

Part-time – No Benefits - $11.28/hr. –up to 15 hours/week

  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Formal schooling sufficient to work requirements, including basic or introductory technical skills that include computer use, or an equivalent combination of experience and training that has provided the knowledge, abilities, and skills listed below:
  • Ability to learn and apply established procedures in the physical processing of library materials for circulation.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Ability to type brief spine labels accurately and quickly.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use the tools and equipment applicable to the opening and unpacking of boxes.
  • Ability to observe established procedures for checking unpacked materials against packing slips.
  • Ability to learn assigned tasks readily and to perform them independently.
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to work effectively as part of a team toward the achievement of common goals and objectives.
  • Skill in keyboarding and the ability to keyboard accurately and quickly.
  • Ability to use PC in several applications simultaneously.
  • Ability to learn the operations of the Library’s computerized database system required

for the entry and maintenance of bibliographic and patron data.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES: This is routine manual and limited clerical work in preparing books and other materials for circulation and inventory control. Work involves the application of established procedures in identifying library materials as to ownership and classification and preparing them physically for circulation through the branches.
