29XXAldrich Ave N Monday 8/1/11 0150 hrs 11-225259

MFD responded to a vehicle fire at this location. The vehicle was parked in the driveway in the rear of the address. The origin of the fire was determined to be the passenger compartment & it was determined to be Arson. The fire consumed the combustibles in the passenger compartment & all windows were broken from the heat of the fire. The dashboard melted down to the frame. There were no witnesses & the vehicle had not been reported stolen. There was a slight odor of gasoline on the back seat of the passenger side. No injuries. Estimated damage is $6000.

11XXLowry Ave N Wednesday 7/27/11 1815 hrs 11-220195

Officers were dispatched to a shooting at the above location. V1/male, 15 yrs, was found in front of the store, bleeding heavily. A witness told officers there was a group of young people (teens) hanging out in front of the store & an argument started. Witness heard a shot, but did not see S1/male, 14-18 yrs, shoot V1. He did see S1 put the gun back in his waistband. V1 was transported to the hospital via ambulance with a non-life threatening wound. It should be noted that no one was willing to speak to officers from the group. Also, there is possible video surveillance of the incident.

11th Ave NIrving Ave N Wednesday 7/27/11 2303 hrs 11-220521

Officers were dispatched to the above location on a shooting. Officers found V1/male, 35 yrs, sitting on the sidewalk. V1 stated he & a friend were walking down the street when he heard a single gun shot & went down to the ground. V1 was shot in the right calf. V1 stated he didn’t know where the shot came from or who shot him. Bystanders in the area also stated they heard one shot & no one saw anything. V1 was transported to the hospital with a non-life threatening wound.

21st Ave N & Penn Ave N Wednesday 7/27/11 2312 hrs 11-220529

Officers responded to the above location on a shooting. V1/male, 17 yrs, was uncooperative with officers & reluctant to provide his name or any details about the incident. V1 only stated he was riding his bicycle when an unknown suspect shot him in the back. V1 was transported to the hospital via ambulance with a non-life threatening wound. No suspects.

23XX Dupont Ave N Wednesday 7/27/11 2320 hrs 11-220539

V1/male, 26 yrs, told officers that S2/male, 17 yrs, grabbed a navy blue duffel bag from bushes near the above location. S1/male, 15 yrs, took a handgun from the bag & pointed it at V1. V1 had just recovered his stolen bicycle from S2, prior to this. V1 went home & called 911. Officers located the suspects & a “show-up” was conducted where V1 positively ID’d S1 as the person pointing the gun & S2 as the party he recovered his bike from. Suspects were ID’d & released to their parents. No injuries.

45th Ave NCamden Ave N Thursday 7/28/11 1036 hrs 11-220904

Officers were dispatched to a personal injury accident at this location. V1/female, 30 yrs, stated that her current boyfriend is W1/30 yrs. V1 drove W1 to the McDonalds at 45th & Lyndale, so that W1 could meet up with AP1/female, 29 yrs, who is the mother of his children. V1 & AP1 got into a physical fight while in the parking lot. V1 & her sister, V2/28 yrs, got into V1’s vehicle & drove around the block. V1 parked her vehicle & V1 & V2 got out of the vehicle & leaned against the trunk. AP1 drove her vehicle toward the victims & both victims had to move out of the way to avoid being struck. AP1 hit V1’s vehicle, damaging the rear, & continued driving. Victims had minor scraps to their legs from falling to the ground. V2 was transported to the hospital via ambulance. V1 refused medical attention at the scene. AP1 was later arrested & booked in HCJ for PC Assault. Both vehicles were towed to the Impound Lot for the Assault Unit.

26XX Lyndale Ave N Thursday 7/28/11 2302 hrs 11-221756

V1/male, 39 yrs, & V2/male, 27 yrs, cut through FarviewPark after having some drinks. Victims were confronted by 6 unknown male suspects, 17-21 yrs. An argument turned physical & S1 struck both victims in the head with a semi-automatic. The other suspects struck victims with baseball bats, sticks, & their hands & feet as victims attempted to defend themselves. A witness observed the suspects fleeing the area & called 911. Victims were transported to the hospital via ambulance. Suspects were GOA.

21st Ave N & Emerson Ave N Saturday 7/30/11 0215 hrs 11-223273

Officers were dispatched to the report of a shooting & located V1/male, 35 yrs, who had a minor graze wound on his back. V1 attempted to tell officers what happened, but he was DK & uncooperative. V1 gave several different stories as to what occurred. It was determined that V1 was a passenger in a car which was shot at & V1 then received the graze wound. V1 refused medical numerous times & medics treated him on the scene. Officers searched the area for the suspect, who was GOA. After clearing the scene, V1 called 911 numerous times demanding medical attention. V1 was transported to the hospital via ambulance.

23rd Ave NMcNair Ave Saturday 7/30/11 1520 hrs 11-223764

Officers responded to a shooting at the above location. 3 witnesses led officer to the location of V1/male, 17 yrs, who had a blue towel over his chest & was having a difficulty breathing. Witnesses stated they were having a glass of wine in the back yard of 25XX 23rd Ave N when they heard 3 shots, but didn’t see anything until V1 walked up the alley & then collapsed. V1 was transported to the hospital via ambulance. Officers were able to obtain V1’s address & contacted his mother, who went to the hospital & positively ID’d her son. V1’s mother told officers that V1 is a gang member, but she didn’t know if this was gang related or not. A note was found in the front pocket of V1’s clothes about a new gang. V1’s mother did not know anything about that gang. No suspect information. V1 suffered wounds to his stomach & hand.

35XX 6th St N Saturday 7/30/11 2257 hrs 11-224195

Officers responded to the above location on the report of a person with a gun & that shots were fired. Officers located AP1/male, 37 yrs,running from the rear of the address. AP1 matched the description given in the 911 call. AP1 was apprehended & a handgun, as well as a quantity of powder narcotics was located in the area where AP1 fled. AP1 was positively ID’d by V1 & a witness during a “Show-Up.” AP1 was booked in HCJ for PC Weapons, PC Narcotics, & PC Asslt 2. V1/female, 21 yrs, suffered a small wound on her chest. Wound was non-life threatening.

24th Ave N & 4th St N Sunday 7/31/11 2240 hrs 11-225111

Officers responded to a shooting in the above area. V1/male, 16 yrs, stated he & his brother, W1/13 yrs, were walking down the street when the suspect vehicle, a black Tahoe with 24” chrome rims, drove up behind them. One of the occupants yelled & V1 & W1 began to run. V1 heard 4—5 shots. W1 got away, but V1 was struck in the leg. The bullet lodged under his skin. V1 was transported to the hospital via ambulance with a non-life threatening wound. ER doctors told officers that V1’s fibula was broken. No suspect description other than the vehicle. Suspects were GOA.

Golden Valley Rd & Queen Ave N Tuesday 7/26/11 0110 hrs 11-218248

V1/female, 42 yrs, was walking from the bus stop when she observed 5 males cross over from the opposite side of the street. These males surrounded V1 & S1/male, 16-18 yrs, told V1 to give him her money or he would hurt her. V1 grabbed a $20 bill from her pocket & threw it at S1. V1 then ran home. No suspect information. No injuries.

47th Ave N & Dupont Ave N Tuesday 7/26/11 0145 hrs 11-220246

V1/male, 21 yrs, was followed off an MTC bus by unknown suspects, 3 males, 20-39 yrs of age. V1 stated these suspects kept asking him for money while he was on the bus. V1 stated that as soon as the bus pulled away, the 3 suspects began chasing him. V1 ran up to an unknown house, pulling out his keys, pretending to live there. When V1 thought the suspects were gone, he called a friend on the phone. While on the phone, V1 was hit on the left side of his head. V1 only remembers a lady standing over him, asking if he was okay after that. V1’s wallet with misc. ID; cards; & papers was gone, as well as his cell phone. V1 was checked out at the hospital. No further suspect information.

Golden Valley Rd & Russell Ave N Wednesday 7/27/11 2145 hrs 11-220431

Officers responded to a Robbery of Person call at this location. V1/female, 45 yrs, stated 2 unknown males, 14-15 yrs, rode up to her on a bicycle. S1 got off the handlebars & demanded V1’s purse. S1 grabbed the purse strap & V1 struggled back. S1 then began pumping his fist in the air, threatening to punch V1 if she didn’t let go of the purse. S1 pulled the purse away from V1 & both suspects fled the area. Loss included misc. ID & credit cards. V1 was not injured.

23rd Ave N & Lyndale Ave N Friday 7/29/11 0128 hrs 11-221928

Officers were dispatched to a Robbery of person call at this location. V1/female, 21 yrs stated she was walking down the street when 4 unknown male suspects, 18-22 yrs, passed her & one of them asked if they could use her cell phone. One of the suspects grabbed V1 by the arm & punched her in the face several times. S1 pointed a small handgun at V1 & demanded her cell phone & purse. S2 grabbed V1’s purse & phone, & ran off with the other suspects. Loss includes V1’s purse valued at $100;cell phone worth $300; ID; & an EBT card. Suspects were GOA.

Lowry Ave N & Penn Ave N Saturday 7/30/11 2140 hrs 11-224122

Officers were flagged down by V1/male, 47 yrs, who stated that AP1/male, 41 yrs, struck him in the forehead with his fist, then took V1’s cell phone, valued at $200 & left the area. V1 pointed AP1 out to officers & told officers that his picture was on the phone. Officers observed V1’s photo on the phone & V1 positively ID’d AP1 as the person who assaulted him & took his phone. V1 sustained a half inch gash in the middle of his forehead. AP1 was arrested & booked in HCJ for PC Robbery. V1 refused medical attention.

30th Ave NNewton Ave N Sunday 7/31/11 0030 hrs 11-224308

Officers were dispatched to the above location on an Aggravated Robbery. V1/male, 54 yrs, stated he was walking home when he was approached by 4 unknown males, 18-25 yrs. S1 pulled a long rifle from under his jacket & pointed it in the direction of V1, with the barrel pointing to the ground. S2 asked V1 what he had & went through his pockets. Suspects 3 & 4 just stood there, looking around. Suspects took V1’s wallet, containing a MN ID; Debit Card; EBT card; & $10 in cash. Suspects then left. V1 was not injured.

Golden Valley Rd & Penn Ave N Sunday 7/31/11 0457 hrs 11-224492

Officer was dispatched to the above location on a robbery report. V1/male, 28 yrs, was in front of the grocery store when he was approached by 3 males, 18-25 yrs. V1 knew S1 & that he is a gang member. S1 raised his hoodie & he had a handgun in his waistband. S1 demanded V1’s wallet & money. At this time, S2 pulled out a handgun. S3 stood there & did nothing. V1 gave his wallet, containing a Master Card; MN ID card; & Speedy Rewards card to S1. Suspects then left. V1 did not know if suspects got into a car to leave the area. V1’s mother stated V1 suffers from Schizophrenia & Bi-polar disorder, but believes he was robbed. V1 stated he used to be a gang member. No injuries. Suspects were GOA.

24XX Broadway Ave W Sunday 7/31/11 1928 hrs 11-224958

Officers were dispatched to a Robbery of Person at the above location. Remarks in the call described a possible suspect with blue jeans & a white t-shirt, & V1/female, 16 yrs, stated the suspect took off his t-shirt. Officers located a male matching this description & transported him to V1’s location. V1 stated he was not the correct party & he was released. V1 stated she was approached from behind by unknown S1/male, 20-30 yrs, who forced her down to the ground. S1 grabbed the back of her neck as he did this. While on the ground, S1 removed $19 in cash from V1’s pocket. V1 was frightened & allowed S1 to take her money. V1 had no injuries & refused medical attention. S1 was GOA.

34th Ave N & Penn Ave N Monday 8/1/11 0119 hrs 11-225243

Officers responded to a Robbery of Person call at the above location. V1/male, 34 yrs, stated he was with his girlfriend, W1/31 yrs, & they were walking to a friend’s house when a gray passenger car passed them & then pulled over to the side of the road. When V1 & W1 passed the vehicle, 3 unknown male suspects, 23-30 yrs, jumped out. S1 pointed a long barrel revolver at V1 as S3 grabbed V1 from behind & held his arms. S2 demanded V1’s belongings & took V1’s cell phone out of one hand & V1’s wallet out of the other. Suspects then told V1 & W1 to run & S1 shot one round into the air. V1 & W1 ran home to call police. Suspects were GOA. Loss included $200 in cash in V1’s wallet; an IL DL; TCF & Wells Fargo cards. The cell phone is valued at $350. No injuries.

32XX Penn Ave N Tuesday 7/26/11 2028 hrs 11-219160

Off duty officer was notified by several parties that there was a fight taking place outside a store & one of the males had a rifle. Officer observed AP1/male, 27 yrs, walking along the side of the store, carrying a rifle. AP1 turned away & began to walk in the previous direction, but he was apprehended, along with OT1/male, 31 yrs. A witness signaled that AP1’s rifle was on the roof of the above location. The rifle was recovered & AP1 was booked in HCJ for PC Weapons.

24XX Lyndale Ave N Thursday 7/28/11 2002 hrs 11-221496

Officers responded to a disturbance at the above location. There was a group of males on the steps that did not live at this residence. Officers observed the group of males walking toward them, except for AP1/male, 26 yrs, who walked away after officers told him to stop. Officer caught up with AP1 & brought him back to the squad. As AP1 & officer walked, AP1 said “I have a gun in my backpack.” Officer removed the replica handgun from the backpack, as well as a large quantity of counterfeit money. AP1 was booked in HCJ for PC Weapons.

Girard Ave NGolden Valley Rd Thursday 7/28/11 2245 hrs 11-221720

Officers observed a vehicle traveling on Newton Ave N & knew there was a “KOPS” alert on the vehicle. It was identified as being involved in multiple “Shots Fired” calls & near a shooting incident the previous evening. Officers conducted a felony stop & secured all the occupants. While removing AP2/male, 16 yrs, he advised there was a handgun under the driver’s seat. Officers observed a fully loaded .357 Smith & Wesson handgun & live ammo under the seat. All parties were booked. AP2, the juvenile, was booked in JDC. 3 adults were booked in HCJ for PC Weapons: AP1/female, 18 yrs; AP3/male, 18 yrs; & AP4/male, 18 yrs.

WEAP---Carry a Weapon w/out a Permit / Flee Police in a Motor Vehicle

27th Ave N & Knox Ave N Saturday 7/30/11 0003 hrs 11-223112

Officers responded to the area of 20XX & 25th Ave N to investigate “Shot Spotter” activation. Officers were flagged down by a pedestrian who reported seeing a male in a light colored Taurus, fire one shot from a pistol out of the driver’s side window. Officers canvassed the area & later observed a light-colored Taurus run a stop sign. Officers got behind the vehicle & initiated a traffic stop. At that time, the driver suddenly accelerated & officers pursued AP1/male, 27 yrs, at speeds of nearly 80 mph for 6 city blocks & then into Folwell Park. AP1 crashed through a chain link fence & his vehicle landed in the swimming pool. AP1 fled on foot, but was apprehended by assisting officers. Officers located a semi-automatic pistol on the ground directly on the path between AP1’s vehicle & where he was apprehended. AP1 was booked in HCJ for PC Weapons & PC Fleeing Police in a Motor Vehicle.

36TH Ave N & Penn Ave N Sunday 7/30/11 2243 hrs 11-225108

Officers were in the above area regarding the report of a person with a gun. Officers observed AP1/male, 19 yrs, & he fit the general description provided of the person with a gun. Officers drove up near AP1 as he was walking down the street & AP1 immediately turned & walked through yards while holding his waistband. Officers got out of the squad & told AP1 to stop, at which time he fled on foot through the yards. A foot chase ensued & K9 tracked AP1 to the rear of 36XX Queen Ave N, where he was apprehended. Officers back tracked AP1’s steps & located a loaded 9mm handgun. AP1 was booked in HCJ for PC Weapons.
