1.GENERAL

1.1It is the intent of these specifications to describe the minimum requirements for a high pressure hydraulic sewer cleaner designed to use high velocity water jets in storm, sanitary and combined sewers, pipe drains and other conduits to remove obstructions, sand, solidified grease, roots and other materials. The units, including all necessary equipment, shall be complete and ready for use. All parts not specifically mentioned which form part of the complete unit shall conform in design, strength and quality of material and workmanship to the highest standards of engineering practice.

1.2The high-pressure sewer-cleaning unit shall be the manufacturer’s standard as may be modified to meet the specifications. It shall be equipped with the manufacturer’s equipment and accessories which are the advertisement and published literature for the unit.

2.PUMP

2.1The pump shall be of own manufacture and a radial piston diaphragm design, eliminating packings and piston seals. The pump shall be capable of continuous operation at maximum designed pressure and must be capable of running dry continuously at full speed without damage and without recirculating water in the crankcase or using shutdown devices. The pump shall be capable of producing 4,000 psi and a maximum flow of 18 gpm. Crankshaft speed on the pump shall not be less than 1,000 rpm.

2.2All moving parts shall be contained in an oil bath crankcase and at no time shall any of the moving parts, except valves, come in contact with water.

2.3Pump crankcase shall contain eight (8) stainless steel barrels. Each barrel shall contain a tubular nitrile diaphragm, inlet valve and delivery valve.

2.4Pump shall be driven by direct drive using flexible couplings. Use of belt drives will not be acceptable.

2.5The high-pressure pump shall have a five year limited warranty or 2,000 hours (whichever comes first) against components that fail due to defects in workmanship or material. See attached warranty policy for details.

3.WATER TANK

3.1The unit shall contain two (2) three hundred (300) gallon water tanks for a total capacity of no more than 600 gallons that will enable the pump to run at full pressure and flow for a minimum of 44 minutes. Increase in water tank capacity to allow 44 minutes of operation time will not be acceptable.

3.2The water tank shall be mounted on a support assembly specifically designed for this purpose.

3.3An overhead type tank filling assembly with a 2” fire hydrant fitting shall be located on the curbside. An adaptor to convert from 2” hydrant fitting to a ¾” garden hose shall also be supplied. A positive air gap anti-siphon system shall be incorporated to protect the potable water supply.

3.4The tanks shall contain a 2” spherical valve to enable easy gravity draining of water.

3.5The tanks shall be vented and shall have removable lids to permit inspection and access into the tanks.
