Dear Tindley Families,

Over our winter break, the elementary principals reviewed our handbook and identified the most common minor infractions that warrant more age-appropriate consequences. Slight revisions to the elementary handbook are included in the Tindley Elementary Handbook Addendum below.

We truly appreciate all the parent feedback that we have received and urge you to continue offering input.

Tindley Elementary Handbook Addendum

January 17, 2017

Below are changes and revisions to the Scholar/Family Handbook that will go into effect immediately.

Tardy Policy

In order for a scholar to be considered on time to school, they must be in their assigned area by 8:00am. Any scholar not in their assigned area will be considered tardy to school.

Every 4th tardy within a semester, family will receive written notification of tardy infractions. Upon the 6th tardy, families will be required to attend a face-to-face meeting with school administration to discuss the tardy problem and develop a plan to ensure on time attendance to school. Upon the 8th tardy within the semester, authorities will be notified of truancy (Department of Child Services and/or State Truancy Officer).

Scholars who are tardy to school must be signed in by a parent or guardian with a written note explaining the tardy. They will then be issued a pass from the front office allowing them to proceed to class. Any tardy past 10:00 am will be considered a full-day absence from school (please refer to absence policies and procedures to view consequences for unexcused absences).

For an absence or tardy to be considered excused, a phone call must be made to the school by no later than 9:00am. An administrator will determine whether the tardiness is excused or unexcused. In most cases, students will receive an unexcused tardy.
