A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE SINCERE GRATITUDE OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO MR. ARNOLD SCREEN OF LEXINGTON FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF SERVICE TO HIS LOCAL COMMUNITY AND THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, UPON RETIRING FROM HIS CURRENT POSITION AS LEXINGTON COUNTY SENIOR EXTENSION AGENT OF CLEMSON UNIVERSITY EXTENSION SERVICE AND TO WISH HIM MANY YEARS OF CONTINUED HAPPINESS.

Whereas, Mr. Arnold Screen of Lexington has generously served the citizens of Lexington County for over thirty years to aid the residents in their understanding of local agriculture; and

Whereas, he graduated from Fort Valley State College with a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy in 1972 and received the prestigious award of being named to Who’s Who Among Colleges and Universities in that year; and

Whereas, in 1973, Mr. Screen began his career with the Clemson University Extension Service, becoming an agent for the people of Lexington in this statewide program; and

Whereas, in his career, he has developed and implemented effective 4H and Youth, Livestock, and County Farm Pond Management programs. Mr. Screen has coordinated school enrichment programs with Lexington County’s five school districts, including programs in soil and water quality, insects, electricity and energy management, and many others; and

Whereas, in the past thirty years, Mr. Screen has coordinated other special interest events, such as the 4H Barbecue, the 4H Energy Challenge, Livestock Quarterly Educational Meetings, and other programs; and

Whereas, he also lends his knowledge and leadership abilities to numerous organizations throughout this State and nation, including the South Carolina Pork Association, the Lexington Community League, the Urban League, the NAACP, the South Carolina County Agent Association, the Extension Epsilon Sigma Phi, the South Carolina Meat Goat Association, the Agronomy Society, the South Carolina 4H Association of Extension 4H Agents, and the Extension Senate, serving as its Vice President; and

Whereas, Mr. Arnold Screen will retire as the Lexington County Senior Extension Agent of Clemson University Extension Service with the respect of all of the people who have had the pleasure of working with him during his career. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, express their sincere gratitude to Mr. Arnold Screen of Lexington for his many years of service to his local community and the State of South Carolina, upon retiring from his current position as Lexington County Senior Extension Agent of Clemson University Extension Service and wish him many years of continued happiness.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Arnold Screen of Lexington.
