3 coordinating fabrics I used Stampin’ Up! fabrics

Cut one print 11 1/2x 6 1/2 inches - Inside and tube piece

Cut different print 8 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches - Front

Cut third print two 3x3 inches - Accent

Batting cut 8 1/2 x 6 inches

Plastic for ID pocket 4x2 3/4 inches

Carpenters Tape Measure cut 2 pieces 5 3/4 inches

Masking tape

1. Cover both ends of cut tape measure with masking tape for ease of inserting into tubes and so it won’t be sharp once it is covered with fabric. Set them aside.

2. Iron a slight crease in 8 1/2 x 6 1/2 inch fabric or front piece both ways, for plastic placement, then hand fold the plastic piece at 2”, line up

plastic crease with the center fold 3 1/4” just above the 4 1/4 crease and

sew three sides of plastic piece to create ID pocket. I clipped the corners

of the plastic off after sewing so they would not be sharp.

3. Iron 1/4 along both ends of 11 1/2 x 6 1/2 inch fabric piece then Iron again creating a 1 inch fold on each end. These will be your tubes to hold the measuring tape.

4. Iron accent piece in half or two inches and then fold end to top to create a triangle piece.

5. Lay Inside fabric piece wrong side up, center batting piece,

then layer front piece right side up making sure the one inch flap

of the inside piece flaps over front. Then tuck accent piece under

the flap on top of the front at the center mark. Sew along flap

edge catching accent piece.

6. Insert tape measure in each tube behind batting and with

The rounded edge towards front.

7. Fold sandwich of fabric in half, right sides together and

Sew sides together about 1/4” seam. The closer you can

sew to the measuring tape edge the better your purse closes.

8. Clip the corners of the seams off. Turn Right side out and enjoy.
