3.1Since the last meeting of the Personnel Panel, the following officers have been commended by the Chief Constable:-

PS1550 Paul BEALE‘NL’ Lyndhurst

DC 24204 Jeremy KING‘NL’ Lyndhurst

Commended by the Chief Constable for their prompt action in disarming a volatile man detained at Lyndhurst who was threatening to cut his throat and was holding a blood stained shard of glass pressed to his neck.

PC 20481 Adam HINKLEY‘LN’ Newport

Commended by the Chief Constable for his prompt and decisive action in calming and detaining a violent male who had threatened to stab him having already slashed both his own arms with a 12 inch knife

Commended by the Chief Constable for personal courage in approaching and arresting a violent man armed with an axe.

Commended by the Chief Constable for bravery in approaching and arresting a man armed with a firearm who had recently threatened a member of the public and was still armed at the time of his arrest.

PC 24077 Peter DWEN‘GG’ Gosport

Commended by the Chief Constable for displaying levels of courage and professionalism beyond those expected of patrolling officers, in the face of an extremely violent group.

Commended by the Chief Constable for bravery in approaching and arresting a man who was threatening members of the public and proceeded to attack the officers with a pair of scissors.

PC 2659 Paul ROBERTS‘NH’ Hythe

PC 24191 Bethan WOOD‘NH’ Hythe

Commended by the Chief Constable for risking their lives in order to save that of another by jumping into Southampton Water. They then held a man above the surface who had weighed himself down, and swam to the pier until assistance arrived.

PC 1678 Russell WHITE‘AB’ Bitterne

Commended by the Chief Constable for his initiative and for displaying a high level of bravery whilst off duty.
