2018STATE 4-H FASHION BOARD NOMINEE INFORMATION

Each county may nominate one 4-H clothing member for each year’s Fashion Board. Approximately 20 teens are selected for a one-year term. Selections for the 2018 board are conducted during the 2017 Ohio State Fair Fashion Revue. Preference is given to members that are at least 4-H age 14 at time of application.

The State 4-H Fashion Board is the small group of outstanding 4-H teen textiles and clothing members selected from across the state.

  • To assist in conducting the State Fair 4-H Fashion Revue, 4-H clothing workshop sessions, and other events.
  • To promote the Ohio 4-H clothing projects and programs.

The State 4-H Fashion Board meets face-to-face approximately four tofive times during the year.

  • A fall orientation meeting will be held to review the roles and responsibilities of State Fashion Board members. To develop plans for educational programs throughout the upcoming year. (September/October)
  • A winter meeting will be held to recognize retiring members (2017), evaluate the 2017 Ohio State 4-H Fashion Revue, and to finalize plans for 2018 educational program offerings the group may decide to conduct.
  • Participation in the Ohio 4-H Conference.
  • A summer meeting to identify a theme, make plans and divide assignments for the Ohio State Fair 4-H Fashion Revue.
  • The four days at the Ohio State Fair to carry out assignments associated with the State 4-H Fashion Revue.

  • 2018 Nominations / Applications –Application follows. Turn in completed application in your judging circle at the time you register for your class for the Ohio State Fair Fashion Revue. Fashion Board interviews will take place during at the State 4-H Fashion Revue the day your county participates.

State 4-H Fashion Board Application Form

As your county’s State 4-H Fashion Board Nominee, complete this application and attach requested items as described. The Clothing Achievement Record is NOT required.

Application Check List:

  • This 3-page application. Use no less than 10 point font. Up to one additional page can be used, if necessary, to list your clothing projects or clothing-related leadership activities.
  • Attach a short essay. Essays should be no more than one page in length, with at least 1” margins on all sides, and no less than 10 point font type. The essay should include a brief overview of your 4-H clothing background and experiences, highlight service or leadership you may have provided related to clothing, explain why you want to be a State Fashion Board Member, and otherwise let the reader know why you are a good candidate for the State 4-H Fashion Board.
  • Attach a letter of recommendation from a 4-H clothing project advisor, County Extension Educator, Extension Master Clothing Educator, your County 4-H Fashion Revue Coordinator, or another unrelated adult who can speak to why you are a good candidate to represent your county’s 4-H clothing program as a State 4-H Fashion Board member.
  • Attach two full-length photos of yourself – one in the outfit in which you have been selected to represent your county at the Ohio State Fair 4-H Fashion Revue.

Applications are turnedinduring registration at the Ohio State Fair 4-H Fashion Revue on the day you will be representing your county. You will be interviewed during your scheduled judging time for your project. Applicants will receive notification by mail after the Ohio State Fair about their selection to the board.
