CATEGORIES:

PARTNERS – Honors attorneys associated with a law firm at the level of partner for their professional achievement and whose legal or business contributions lead to the success of their client; service to the legal profession and improvement of the legal system through practice innovations, legal scholarship, advancing diversity within the profession, and maintaining and encouraging high standards of ethics; participation in professional associations; mentoring or serving as a role model; volunteer or pro bono public service; and civic or community involvement.

ASSOCIATES – Honors attorneys who are law firm associates for their professional achievements and whose legal or business or philanthropic/nonprofit contributions lead to the success of their clients; service to the legal profession and improvement of the legal system through practice innovations, legal scholarship, advancing diversity within the profession, and maintaining and encouraging high standards of ethics, participation in professional associations; mentoring or serving as a role model, volunteer or pro bono public service; and civic or community involvement.

UP & COMING LAWYERS – Honors associates with a law firm and attorneys who are in their first 10 years of practice, yet have already distinguished themselves in the practice of law, and appear poised for even greater things. These attorneys have already accumulated professional achievements and their legal or business contributions have led to the success of clients, or they have given service to the legal profession and have worked to improve the legal system through practice innovations, legal scholarship, advancing diversity within the profession, and maintaining and encouraging high standards of ethics. They participate in professional associations, mentor or serve as a role model, provide pro bono public service, and take part in civic or community involvement.

SOLE PRACTITIONERS – Honors sole practitioners for their professional achievement and whose legal or business contributions lead to the success of their client; service to the legal profession and improvement of the legal system through practice innovations, legal scholarship, advancing diversity within the profession, and maintaining and encouraging high standards of ethics; participation in professional associations; mentoring or serving as a role model; volunteer or pro bono public service; and civic or community involvement.

IN-HOUSE COUNSEL – Honors attorneys not associated witha law firm who practice in the legal departments of corporations,associations and other private-sector organizations; whose contributionslead to the success of their clients through advocacy, departmentmanagement, compliance and quality initiatives, cost controland public policy activities; participation in professional associations;mentoring or serving as a role model; volunteer or pro bono publicservice; and civic or community involvement.

EDUCATORS – Honors professionals who teach the practice oflaw for providing a model of professionalism that prepares studentsfor success in law practice, business, public service, teaching andmore, and whose performance and dedication is considered exemplaryby students and peers.

UNSUNG HEROES – Honors professional associations andthe support staff working behind the scenes at legal offices such asparalegals, law librarian, legal secretary and clerks whose performanceis considered exemplary by going above and beyond theparameters of their normal job routine.

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD – The LifetimeAchievement Award will recognize a current or former jurist who hashonorably represented the legal profession by exemplifying performance,leadership, integrity, mentoring throughout his/her careerwhile bettering the legal profession overall. Testimonial letters fromcolleagues, clients and the business community will be accepted forthis category.
