2017 WIFA STATE HS ICE FISHING CHAMPIONSHIP RED CEDAR CHAIN - Feb 18th 7am-2pm

Team registration will be Friday night at 6:00 p.m. at the UW-Barron County gymnasium – doors open at 5:30 p.m. We hand out event packets, have food, do door prize handouts and have the rule’s meeting along with the presentation of the Master Angler of the Year. If you cannot make it to the Friday night meeting, you must register at the tournament headquarters on Saturday morning before the tournament begins.

Each team is responsible for purchasing the “Official” Tournament Measuring Board – Rapala 60” Magnum Folding Ruler – to measure your fish with! Make sure to have enough available if you have multiple teams fishing.

·  The board will need to be verified before you fishon Saturday. It will be marked with a WIFA sticker during registration.

·  TEAM EVENT PACKETS will include: Team Flag, Map, Game Fish Sheet, Rules, Off Limits Areas on lake, etc.

TARGET SPECIES AND LIMITS

GAME FISH ALLOWANCES (11 Total Fish):

·  Your top 5 Northern, top 5 Bass – Largemouth or Smallmouth, and top 1 walleye will count towards Game fish inches total.

·  All game fish must be recorded/measured by the coach and photographed on the official bump board – WIFA sticker must be in the photo.

PAN FISH ALLOWANCES (15 Total Fish):

Your top 5 Crappie, top 5 Bluegill/Sunfish, top 5 Perch – placed in a bucket.

·  Pan fish will be kept in water until the end of the day - no frozen fish allowed!

·  Pan fish will be weighed and multiplied by 12 to get an estimated inches. That will be added to the gamefish total inches.

WINNING TEAMS WILL BE DECIDED BY HIGHEST POINT TOTAL!

TOURNAMENT FORMAT AND GENERAL RULES

·  Tournament Start time is 7 am- Listen for the Cannon to signal the start of the tournament!

·  Anglers are allowed to be on the ice at any time HOWEVER no hooks in the water until the 7am or after 2 pm!

·  Fishing end time is 2:00 pm! No fish will count if caught after that.

·  Only fish caught by HS students can be registered.

·  Adult coaches are not allowed to touch the reel, rod, or line to assist in catching a fish. Student anglers are not allowed to use coach’s lines to catch fish.

·  Teams up to 10 students with 2 coaches per team are allowed.

·  2 Anglers from your team must have their bucket in PAN FISH LINE by 2:30 pm- no exceptions

·  Coaches must have their Gamefish Sheet in GAME FISH LINE by 2:30 p.m. - no exceptions.

·  Unofficial practice day is Friday, Feb. 17th – teams must be off the ice by 5:00 p.m.

·  Doors open at 5:30 pm at UW-Barron County gymnasium – the mixer/pizza/raffle prizes start at 6:00 p.m. and the rules meeting, etc. will follow.

·  Red Cedar Lake, Hemlock Lake, and Balsam Lake are the only lakes you can fish. No tributaries or connected lakes can be fished. AWARDS WILL BEGIN AFTER ALL RESULTS ARE FINALIZED!
