K-8 and rated Under 1000

K-5 and rated Under 800

K-3 and rated Under 600

Both your grade and your rating must fit within the range for your section (subject to TD discretion). You can “play up”. If you don’t qualify for any of these, play in the Utah Open (U1600 and U1200 Sections are the same day/same place, see separate flyer). Unrated players can play but cannot win cash prizes and should register for the section that best matches their ability.TD Discretion to combine/split sections and to place players in an appropriate section.

4 Rounds: First round Saturday at 9:45 am, others to follow ASAP. There may be a lunch break.

Time Control: G/25 d/5.

Prizes: Cash prizes to top players in each section (based on entries). Participation prize for all players (prize box).

Entry Fees: $15if registered and paid by Monday, October 9(by mail) or by Thursday, October 12(online; use link at $25late/onsite.

Rules: US Chess rules, subject to modifications in the Utah Scholastic handbook (clocks/notation not required in K-3 section). This is not a team event (default is that teammates will be paired against each other) but teammates/family members can request a non-pairing, subject to TD discretion.

Registration: Online: via link at Mail: Please send information and fees to UCA c/o David Day, 9831 Congressional Way, South Jordan, UT 84095. Include name, US Chess Federation ID#, rating, byes requests, and section. Make checks payable to the order of UCA. Onsite Registration: Saturday 8:30 to 9 am. Players should not expect to be able to register during the annual meeting.

Annual Utah Chess Association Meeting: Saturday at 9:00 a.m.

Utah Chess Association Annual Membership Meeting: The annual meeting will be held on Saturday, October 14, at 9:00 a.m. The meeting is expected to take less than 30 minutes. We will be electing up to five directors (each for up to a two-year term) to the seven-memberBoard of Directors and conducting such other business as may properly come before themeeting. Pursuant to the By-Laws, written notice of any proposed amendment to the by-lawsmust be given thirty (30) days prior to the meeting. If you have a proposed by-law amendment,please submit it in a timely fashion to Steve Hoisington, Secretary() or to the UCA via email to .
