INTERSCHOOL COMPETITION INFORMATION

Welcome to the Townsville School Sport Touch competition.

Please become familiar with the following information.

The first week of Inter-School Touch fixtures in 2017 is June 1,2.

Upon arriving at the Queen’s Park or Greenwood fields, please move straight to your fields ready for the game. Be sure you have duty of care over other teams that may not be playing at this time.

POINTS TO NOTE

1. TEAM:- A team may have up to 12 players but only 6 on the field at once.There are 4 divisions for both boys and girls. Senior A1 or A2 (year 6) and Junior B1 or B2 (year 5).

2. COACHING:- Coaches may nominate to coach a maximum of two teams but not in the same division/time slot.. i.e. a coach must only have one team from each time slot. Eg Year 6 inexperienced (SeniorA2) and Year 6 experienced (SeniorA1).

3. GAME TIMES: -

Time Slot One 12:30 – 12:48 & 12:52 – 1:10pm (2 halves).

Year 5 Experienced (JuniorB1) and Year 6 Inexperienced (SeniorA2)

Time Slot Two 1:15 – 1:33 & 1:37 – 1:55pm ( 2 halves )

Year 5 Inexperienced (JuniorB2) and Year 6 Experienced (SeniorA1)

There will be central timing, with a hooter signaling the start and end of each half. If you start your game late,you must finish when the hooter goes regardless of how long you have played.

5. MARKERS:- You should supply your own markers. Markers may also be supplied by the convener if you need more. Place 1 marker either side of touch downs and at half way. Before beginning the game, let the players know where the boundaries are.

6. COMPETITION POINTS:-

Points will be kept for the SeniorA1 and JuniorB1 ‘experienced’ competitions.

No Points will be kept for SeniorA2 and JuniorB2 ‘inexperienced competitions.

Win 3 points Bye 3 points

Draw 2 point Forfeit 0 points

Loss 1 points No Result 0 points

Be sure to give your final scores to the convenor upon leaving. If this can not be done, coaches may email results to . If the results are not submitted the game will be recorded as a no result and team/s will receive 0 points. If you find any errors in the points as the season progresses, please contact the convenor immediately.

7. MODE of DRAW

Depending on the number of nominations in each division, every attempt is made to have all teams play each other at least once during the season. It is also our committee’s responsibility to ensure Premierships are decided in a fair and equitable way. The draw and competition procedures will follow the Operating procedures of TownsvillePrimary school sport; Item 7k.

8. RULES:- Please refer to rules, dress requirements, a map of the venue, risk assessment and the draws on this website.

9.REFEREEING:- All referees must be registered teachers.The team listed first on the draw should supply areferee for the first half and the team listed second should supply a referee for the second half. If a coach is away and the replacement is unable to referee, please ring your opposing coach and ask if they would mind refereeing the whole game.

10.TEAM LEVY:- A $25.00 Levy applies for each team entered.

11.ROUND 6/7:-In the ‘Experienced’ competitions if all teams can not complete a full round, then the last weeks may be left spare the ensure the leading teams have played each other to determine the Premiers.

12. FIRST AID:-Each school should bring their own First Aid Kit and each child their own water bottle. A central First Aid Kit will also be with the convenor, if extra equipment is needed. Each school should also bring their own ice pack. Each coach is responsible for his or her own immediate First Aid. If an Ambulance is required, a phone will be available at the clubhouse.

11. BALLS:- All balls are supplied by the teams in the competition.Games are played with Junior Touch balls.

12. POINTS MATRIX Results of the ‘Experienced’ (SeniorA1,JuniorB1) games only will be recorded on a score sheet held by the convener. These scores are then allocated to an on going points matrix on the web site. Please be sure to give your scores to the convenor before leaving the grounds. If this is not done, coaches may email results to by 3:30pm on the day of that game. If the results are not submitted, the game will be recorded as a no result and team/s will receive 0 points.
