BGHS vs. St. X- Due to the heavy rains in the forecast for Thursday and Friday, the game has been moved to Saturday, September 2, 11:00 AM CT. This will be the 15th meeting between the Purples and Tigers. Nine of those 15 meetings have occurred Coach Wallace’s tenure. St. X leads the series 9-5 but BGHS has won five of the last six meetings. The schools met for the first time in 1925. St. X won the initial eight meetings in the series. BGHS has opposed either St. X or Trinity every years since 2005. BGHS has not lost two games in a row since the Purples lost to St. X in the 2006 Rafferty’s Bowl. BGHS had lost in the Class AAA state championship game to Lexington Catholic in 2005 for the first of those two losses. The Purples have not lost two in a row in the same season since 2002.

PRP 35 BGHS 21- Pleasure Ridge Park ended the Purples win streak at 28 with a dominating win in Louisville. The Panthers outgained BGHS 401-150 enroute to the victory. SR WR Ziyon Kenner opened the game with a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown for the Purples. It was the second 99-yard return for a score in Kenner’s career. SR OLB Devan Jackson had 6 tackles, 4 assists, and 2 sacks. JR OLB Miles Smith led BGHS tacklers with 8 tackles, 2 assists, and 2 tackles for loss. SR LB Justice Dingle had 7 tackles, 4 assists, a sack, and a tackle for loss. JR CB Jaylen Wardlowhad an interception.

BGHS Football- BGHS Football began play in 1922. Since that time, the Purples have amassed a record of 684-332-35, which places them eighth in all-time wins in Kentucky.. The Purples are tied for 9th in state championships (6), are among only 12 schools in state history that have won three consecutive championships, and their 48-game win streak (2011-14) is the second longest in state history. Since 2011, BGHS is 85-4 (.956). In the 26 seasons since 1990, BGHS and Highlands are the only two Kentucky schools to win more than 85% of their games. Coach Wallace: Kevin Wallace now in 12th spot on the career KHSAA football wins list. Currently, only nine coaches have secured 300 career KHSAA wins. Tom Larkey(Perry Co. Central) and Wallace have a chance to join that group by season’s end. The loss at PRP was the 100th defeat of Wallace’s career. Wallace is now 290-100 (.744) in his career, including a 245-39 (.863) mark at BGHS. Wallace is tied for 10th in KHSAA state championship appearances (8) and and tied for 7th in state championships won (5). Wallace is the only coach in state history that have been a part of three separate winning streaks of over 25 games .
