AHOUSE RESOLUTION
TO HONOR DAVIS M. HOLDER ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE PELHAMBATESVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT AFTER FIFTY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AND TO WISH HIM MUCH SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to pause in their deliberations to express gratitude to Davis “Dave”M. Holder on the occasion of his retirement from the PelhamBatesville Fire Department on June 30, 2018, after fifty years of exemplary service; and
Whereas, DaveHolder has served in numerous capacities at the PelhamBatesville Fire Department, including as firefighter, fundraiser, driver, assistant fire chief, and commissioner. He even served as fire chief for a short period of time; and
Whereas, he served on the fire department for 18 years before being appointed to the Board of Fire Control in 1986. He was secretary/treasurer for the board from January 1987, until he was elected chairman on September 11, 1989, and has served as chairman ever since; and
Whereas, Dave Holder’s devotion to the community and the department has been truly remarkable. His presence will be greatly missed as he has dedicated himself to supporting the men and women of the department and to providing honorable service to the citizens of the PelhamBatesville community; and
Whereas, he is a longstanding member of Pelham First Baptist Church, where he has served as deacon. He also has served on the Greenville County Special Purpose District Association and is an active member of the South Carolina Association of Special Purpose Districts; and
Whereas, furthermore, Dave Holder is a Korean War veteran, serving with the United States Army from 1953 to 1955; and
Whereas, he has been married to the love of his life, Frances, for sixtythree blissful years. Together, they have one son and two daughters, and they have been blessed with six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives of the Palmetto State thank Dave Holder for his lifetime of service to his country, his State, and the PelhamBatesville community and wish him all the joy that life can provide. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor Davis M. Holder on the occasion of his retirement from the PelhamBatesville Fire Department after fifty years of dedicated service and wish him much continued success and happiness in his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented toDavis M. Holder.
