2016 UK SOCIAL EVENT
PROPOSAL
I have been researching (with some help from Roger H) Poole and it has become the venue of choice for me. I recommend we follow last year’s format – one night, two days.
ACCOMMODATION
For those of you not familiar with the city, the Quay is the true center for visitors.
Two hotels on or close to the Quay are the Thistle and the Hotel du Vin. I quickly dismissed the Thistle for several reasons. The Hotel du Vin is an extremely nice hotel with beautiful function rooms. But too expensive for us.
Roger then discovered that the RNLI center at Poole is also a hotel. It is about a five to ten minute walk to the harbor center - Quay.
The possible dates and room rates are:

£89.50 single occupancy B&B, per night or £99.50 double occupancy B&B, per night.
Monday 10th October 2016
Tuesday 11th October 2016
£79.50 single occupancy B&B, per night or £89.50 double occupancy B&B, per night
Further nights can be booked at the same rate.
Limited parking is available.
The room hire for the AGM for 2-3 hours for 20 people would be £250.00. Tea & coffee charge would be £1.50 per person, served in the room with cake.
We could have our dinner in the Harbour View room. It is located on the 2nd floor of the RNLI College with sweeping views across Holes Bay. The three menu choices I have reviewed so far are priced between £28.50 and £33.50 though a meat main course is not included – can be negotiated. This cost includes the room hire.
Although being impressed with the facility and the staff’s willingness and cooperation, I have never been there. An acquaintance of mine, who was a lieutenant commander in the RN, spent several years with the RNLI when he retired. He can only offer praise for the facility, food, staff, accommodation, etc.
ACTIVITIES
Everyone would arrive by 1300 on the Monday.
1430 to 1600 RNLI tour. By staying at the College, this tour will be free.
1700 AGM
1900 Dinner
Tuesday
0930 Tour of the Sunseeker yacht facility. It is about a 5 minute walk from the College. There may be a restriction on the number of people they can accommodate.
AND/OR
2 hour Harbour tour at a cost of about £8PP.
This Event would be quite easy for me to organise as we will mainly be at the College.
