DISCIPLINE & TRAINING RULES

We must set standards of discipline to develop the athlete’s. We want to make the athletes:

2.Better persons

2. Better student athletes

3. Overall productive students

The athletes will be treated as individuals who are striving to make themselves, their team, their school, and their community the best they can be. Our rules will complement those of the school and community. They will be discussed and established by both coaches and athletes.

The following are the basic rules, which must be adhered to:

  1. ACADEMICS –Always work to your potential: progress checks will be made.
  2. LOYALTY–To school, our program, your family, and yourself.
  3. APPEARANCE –Neat appearance
  4. PROMPTNESS –Be on time for school, practices, etc.
  5. PRACTICE –Attend all sessions ON TIME. We need your full effort.
  6. ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES –Alcohol, drugs, and tobacco ABSOLUTELY FORBIDDEN
  7. REST –Plan to sleep 7-9 hours per night, which is recommended by sleep study experts.
  8. HONESTY –BE HONEST with parents, teachers, and coaches and WITH YOURSELF

These rules are here to guide you into becoming a better person. You know right from wrong. If you think it could be wrong, it is wrong.

BE

ACCOUNTABLE!

Warrior Basketball

Even as the coach must have several things to consider in regard to the practice session, so do the players. Here are some of the things I ask of the player:

1.Be dressed, on the floor, and ready for practice on time at every practice (Be ready for team stretch. If you are not, you will not practice and will not play.)

2.Loosen up and then work on your weakness and practice some free throws or moves when you take the floor before organized practice begins.

3.Work hard to improve yourself. Be serious and have fun without clowning.

4.No cliques, no complaining, no JEALOUSY, no egoism, on envy. Earn the respect of others and your own self-respect.

5.Never leave the floor without permission.

6.When the coach speaks, all give your undivided attention and respond immediately.

7.Move quickly to get into position for a change of drill.

8.Take excellent care of your equipment/uniform and keep your locker and team room neat and orderly.

9.Don’t require repeated criticism or correction for the same mistakes.

10.Be clever, not fancy. Clever play will bring praise while fancy play invites criticism.

11.When a group activity is stopped to correct an individual, all should play close attention in order that you will not require the same correction.

12.Condition comes from hard work during practice and proper mental and moral conduct between practices.

13.Confidence comes from being prepared and proper execution comes from self-control and hard work.

LOCKER ROOM CONDUCT

1.Keep your locker neat and clean. Hang your clothes, towel, etc. Let your shoes dry.

2.Keep equipment off the floor and in your locker. Equipment picked up will have a “price tag”to get it back.

3.Keep your practice equipment clean. This means socks, supporters, and shirts.

4.Have your fun, jokes and kidding after practice. Get dressed, get on the floor and ready for business. Don’t linger too long after practice either. Bundle up when leaving the building.

5.No profane language will be tolerated at any time. Use a better choice of words.

6.NO HORSE PLAY. We try to avoid injures on the floor in competition. Let’s not have any in the locker room.

7.Check your locker. Make sure it is locked before you leave. You are responsible for equipment.

8.Do not damage anything by writing or making on any surface. Keep the locker room clean at all times. Pitch in and do your share.

9.You are responsible for keeping the locker room clean and “homey”. This is your home away from home.

Game Day

1.You must be in school by the specified time on the day of a game in order to eligible to play. If you have an emergency reason, call the office before you miss school.

2.Home Games

a.Varsity must be in attendance of the JV game and sitting as a group. Give encouragement to JV players.

b.Time

i.JV’s report to game 1 hour prior to tip off (or per instruction of the coach).

ii.Varsity must be dressed and stretching out/preparing for game by end of the third quarter of the previous game (JV or Women’s). Be ready to cover game plane when coach comes in to locker room.

3. Away Games

a. Players will be given departure time by their coaches the day before the game.

b. Be on time for bus departure. Allow yourself extra time to get on the bus. If you are going to be late call the coach.

c.All players will return home by bus unless given permission by the coach.

d.Always double check your equipment before leaving. This is a must.
