Exceptional Character Student Scholarship

The Community Character Coalition of Douglas County will award three scholarships, a Gold Scholarship in the amount of $2,000.00, a Silver Scholarship in the amount of $1,000.00, and a Bronze Scholarship in the amount of $500.00 to graduating seniors who are residents of Douglas County. The qualifications include:

Student must be a graduating senior from a public or private high school or be a graduating senior from a home school program;

Student must be a DouglasCounty resident;

Student must have a cumulative 3.0 grade point average or higher;

Student must plan to attend an institute of higher learning;

Student must provide documentation of active participation in service projects from a representative of an organization or community affiliate;

Student must demonstrate positive character qualities at all times;

Student must submit a recommendation letter from both a school and community member/leader that has direct personal knowledge of the student and specifically describe the student’s positive character qualities.

In addition to the scholarship award, the student’s teacher named as having the most positive impact on each scholarship winner will receive $50. The award will be used by each selected teacher to further character education activities in his/her classroom. If the teacher is no longer employed, the $50 will go to the school where the winning student was taught by the teacher to further character education in the school.

The applicant mustincludethe following in their submission to the Community Character Coalition of Douglas Countyforscholarship consideration:

One official copy of the student’s transcripts;

Two Letters of recommendation must be mailed directly to Character Coalition PO Box or included in attached application.

One letter of recommendation from a school teacher or other staff person who has direct knowledge of the applicant from their school

One letter of recommendation from a community individual who has direct personal knowledge of the applicant;

Complete application form typed in 12pt, Times New Roman font (handwritten applications will not be accepted)

Winnersmust supply the CCC with a digital picture upon notification, and all scholarship awards will be presented at the annual Community Character Coalition’s breakfastthis spring.
