Pre-race swab samples were taken from DEMONSTRATIVE, REALLY HARRY, ZUMBA BROMAC NZ, PERFECT PAIGE and JUST STOPANDSTARE NZ
JUST STOPANDSTARE NZ pulled hard in the middle stages.
Stewards inquired into the reasons for JOKERS WILD CARD racing three wide and then racing rough before having its sulky contacted and sustaining a flat tyre at the 700 metres. After taking evidence from drivers James Austin (PERFECT PAIGE) and Josh Duggan (JOKERS WILD CARD) Mr Austin pleaded guilty to a charge under AHRR163(1)(b) for causing JOKERS WILD CARD to cover more ground than necessary, the particulars being that he shifted away from the marker pegs prior to the candy pole being reached. After taking into consideration his guilty plea and his record his licence to drive in races was suspended for two race dates commencing midnight at 20 December 2015 and expiring at midnight 27December 2015. THATSWHATSHESAID (C Salter) contacted the sulky wheel of JOKERS WILDCARD as that filly shifted resulting in a flat tyre.

After taking evidence from drivers Matthew Howlett (RECKLESS ABANDON) and Nathan Ford (BAD BOY HUGHIE NZ) Mr Ford was found guilty of a charge under AHRR163(1)(a) for causing interference. The particulars of the charge were that that he allowed his drive to shift in over the space of 100 metres between the 400 metres and 300 metres causing tightening and eventually contacting the legs of RECKLESS ABANDON which then was severely checked and broke and then further locked wheels with ROBERT MOREAU (T. Rattray), severely checking that gelding. Mr Ford was found guilty of the charge and after hearing submissions on penalty his licence to drive in races was suspended for 4 race dates commencing midnight 20 December 2015 and expiring at midnight 3 January 2016.
BAD BOY HUGHIE NZ hung in and contacted two marker pegs in the home straight before being corrected by driver Nathan Ford. Stewards held the all clear after the event and after viewing the official race replays were satisfied that the gelding had gained no advantage and the all clear was declared.
Stewards inquired into the reasons for MARTY’S FOR REAL racing four wide prior to the candy pole and after hearing evidence from drivers Alex Ashwood(MARTYS FOR REAL) and IanMcMahon (ONE MANS PASS) Mr McMahon was found guilty of a charge under AHRR 163(1)(b) and after hearing submissions on penalty including a request for a deferral Mr McMahon was suspended for one race date commencing at midnight 26 December 2015 and expiring at midnight on 27 December 2015.

SOO SPECIAL underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to run.
Prior to the event trainer Nathan Ford advised that LICINIA (G Sugars) would look to be restrained off the gate and then look to be driven with a sit due to the gate speed drawn to its inside. Stewards approved the change of tactics and the mare was driven accordingly.

At the same time ANINCHOFHISLIFE (C Salter) shifted off the pegs and then restrained off the wheel of KURAHAUPO GAMBLER NZ (GSugars) and as a result JUKEBOX MUSIC which was trailing was also obliged to restrain which then contributed to the contact from RAJAH WEALTH.
