The Unpaid Internship Grant is a competitive grant designed to assist undergraduate students to enhance their academic experience through meaningful internships conducted in the United States.
Application Deadlines
Fall Semester: October 9, 2017
Spring Semester: February 13, 2018
Summer: May 1, 2018
(Applications must be received (not postmarked) no later than 4:00 p.m. on the deadline date. Late applications will not be reviewed. All applicants will receive notification of award approximately two weeks after the deadline.)
Award Amounts
Grants are available up to $1,000
Grants are only awarded for unpaid internships. All awards will be announced publicly.
Eligibility Requirements
You are eligible to apply for this grant if you meet ALL of the below criteria:
· You are an undergraduate student in good standing (cumulative GPA is above 2.5) in the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences and
· You will obtain academic credit for your internship (ApEc, Ag Food Bus Mgmt, & Nutrition enroll in CFAN 3096) and
· This internship is NOT being conducted at a business owned or managed by a family member or relative and
· You have not previously received an Unpaid Internship Grant and
· Your internship is conducted in the United States.

Write a two paragraph statement describing your internship duties, your specific career interests and goals and describe how your internship furthers these specific career goals.
Unofficial Transcript
Attach a copy of your unofficial transcript including your current registration. Unofficial transcripts are available at http://www.onestop.umn.edu/onestop/grades.html or in 130 Coffey Hall. If needed, on a separate piece of paper, you may explain the reasons for any gaps, incompletes, or failing grades if there were extenuating circumstances surrounding them.

Financial Needs Statement
Include a paragraph on your financial need for this grant. List expenses you will have as well as resources you have to contribute. You can include housing, food, transportation, etc. Please state how taking this unpaid internship will affect your earning potential during the internship period.
