RACE 1 BRYAN GREEN MOBILE– 2180 METRES

SO YOU SAY broke shortly after the startand has been placed out of the draw for future mobile start events. The filly then raced rough on the first turn before tiring over the concluding stages.

BALDOCK was out of position at the start and will continue to be placed out of the draw in future mobile start events.

HOLME ON THE BAYOU has been placed back in the mobile start draw.

Driver Heath Szczypka BALDOCK) was reprimanded for his excessive whip action over the concluding stages.

RACE 2 – VINCENT FUNERAL SERVICES STAKES – 1892 METRES

The start of this event was slightly delayed as WHAT A FINE FILLY which had reared and fallen on the infield while in the prestart formation underwent a pre-race veterinary exam and was passed fit to run.

ALWAYS A SHOW galloped out been placed on its chance in the draw.

Stewards inquired into the reasons for ALWAYS A SHOW breaking shortly after passing the bell. After taking evidence from drivers Craig Hayes(ALWAYS A SHOW) and Adrian Duggan(FLYLIKA HAWK) it was established that BARAGOOLA had shifted down whilst leading and contacted a marker peg despite the efforts of driver Rohan Hillier however FLYLIKA HAWK (Adrian Duggan) had maintained its position in the peg line and ALWAYS A SHOW which was racing to the outside of that gelding hung in and contacted the sulky of FLYLIKA HAWK. ALWAYS A SHOW has been placed on its last chance to race truly.

Stewards also inquired into the tactics adopted by driver Craig Hayes(ALWAYS A SHOW).

Mr Hayes explained that his horse is best suited when allowed to run along evenly in its races and for this reason he went forward and applied pressure to the leader BARAGOOLA for 300 metres with a view to gaining the lead before he then restrained. Mr Hayes added that he had not pulled his earplugs with a lap to go when he the broke after contacting the sulky of FLYLIKA HAWK and after losing considerable ground when breaking he pulled the colt up in the back straight. Stewards noted Mr Hayes explanation and also noted the fact that the colt was unable to be tested to the finish after the interference.

RACE 3 – DARWIN FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION MOBILE – 2180 METRES

The start of this race was delayed by two minutes due to an interstate gallop race running behind schedule.

TIZYALATOR hung out throughout the race and then shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

REALLY FIESTY hung in in the score up.

RACE 4 – NWTHLHA MARES FEATURE – 2180 METRES

BOUTIQUE ART galloped out and has been placed on its last chance in the draw.

LUCKY LIBBY galloped out and has been placed on its last chance in the draw. The mare then tired from the 600 metres and was pulled up due to a broken hobble carrying strap .

BERTILS DELIGHT hung out during the event.

SUM ONE which galloped out has been placed on its last chance in the draw.

MOUNTAIN SAFARI raced rough after the start then broke free of interference on the second turn and has been placed on its last chance to race truly.

RACE 5 – TREVOR & MARJORIE LEIS PACE DIVISION ONE – 2180 METRES

NEONJET galloped out and then shifted out slightly after the start has been placed on its last chance in the draw.

NO NONONONO galloped out and has been placed on its last chance in the draw.

MIGHTY JASPER galloped out and has been placed on its last chance in the draw.

Stewards inquired into the reasons for MICKWILLREV being obliged to race four wide. prior to the candy pole and after taking evidence from drivers Nick Brockman and Craig Hayes, Nick Brockman (MIGHTY JASPER) pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 163(1)(b), for causing MICKWILLREV to cover more ground than necessary.His license to drive in races was suspended for 2 race dates, the commencement of the suspension was deferred until midnight on the 18th of January and his suspension will then expire at midnight on the 26th January.

Stewards further inquired into an incident which occurred on the home turn which resulted in MIGHTY JASPER contacting the sulky of MICKWILLREV which was racing to that geldings outside also BUCKSAROO (Troy Hillier) was checked and raced rough. Driver Craig Hayes (MICKWILLREV) pleaded guilty to a charge under AR163(1)(a) for causing interference and his license to drive in races was suspended for two race dates commencing at midnight on January the 11th and expiring at midnight on the 18th of January.

RACE 6 – RADIO 7BU BURNIE CUP – 2789 METRES

COOL WHARTON broke after the start has been placed on its last chance in the draw.

MISS LIVELY was fractious before the start. The mare hung out during the event and raced rough entering the back straight on the final occasion.

JOHNNY ACE galloped out and has been placed on its last chance in the draw.

WILLIE WINALOT, which galloped out and then continued to gallop for some distance has been placed out of the draw.

Driver Michael Laugher(PUT MBACK) pleaded guilty to a charge under AR163(1)(b) for causing PUNT ROAD DISCO to race four wide prior to the candy pole being reached. Mr Laugher’s licence to drive was suspended for two race dates commencing midnight on the 11th of January and expiring midnight on the 18th of January.

RACE 7 – CRESSY CHAFF CUTTERS PACE DIVISION TWO – 2180 METRES

COOKED BOOKS was fractious before the start and then galloped out and the gelding has been placed out of the draw for future standing start events.

BARRY’S BEST and ISLAND AFFAIR briefly jostled for a position in the one out line entering the home straight on the first occasion before ISLAND AFFAIR restrained to take a trail, as it did so REGAL IDEA was briefly inconvenienced.

LIKE IT IS was held up for racing room rounding the home turn.

ODINS CALL GIRL was held up for clear racing room rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight.

GENERAL TPC 4/1/2015 Race 5 CALL THE MARSHALL

Trainer Paul Ashwood advised that an examination of the geldings teeth was carried out in the days following the race to determine the reasons for the it’s hanging out in the race. Issues were detected upon examination which will be rectified before the gelding again races.
