Dress Rehearsal:
Dress rehearsal will be on Thursday, June 12th at 5:00 pm. Full costumes and makeup are required for every dance. No excuses! Follow the signs to your dressing room. They are assigned by age. All boys have a separate dressing room. Pre-K through 3-5th grade classes are all in the large Gallery. Juniors and Seniors will all be backstage. Per Hoyt Sherman: Please do not allow dancers to spray any spray in the Gallery as it is prohibited! The dress rehearsal is not open to the public. Only parents and dance students are allowed in the auditorium. We will stop and start periodically to fix what technical issues may arise. We will rehearse finale a couple of times, as the dancers need to familiarize themselves with the venue. Dress rehearsals can run a bit late and off schedule. Please be patient with us while we prepare your dancer(s) for their performance and work out any major kinks with sound, set, props, and lighting. J

Costumes:

·  Finale: K-2 Combination through High School Combination will perform in finale with their own ALL white costume. Have fun and be inventive with your dancers white costume: (e.g: tutu, dress, skirts, shorts, etc) Performers will dance barefoot for finale. Dancers are allowed to wear nude foot undies or tan jazz slip-ons if they would like to wear shoes during finale.

·  Labels: Please have all children’s shoes, costumes, and accessories labeled with their first and last name. Please bring a labeled laundry basket for all bigger items & put smaller individual dance costume pieces in Ziploc bags. LABEL EVERYTHING! Please be sure to follow these labeling instructions or your child’s costume is likely to be lost! It is very hard for the helpers to keep 175 children’s costumes, shoes, & accessories straight. This will help everything run smoothly.

·  Absolutely no food or drink in your dance costume. We will provide water & snacks.

·  Quick-Changes: Quick-changes are when a dancer has less three numbers between two of their dances. Dancers with quick-changes must bring quick-change costumes in a labeled Ziploc bag. Either a parent or your dancer is responsible for getting the quick-change costume back stage in the quick-change dressing room before the show begins. Do not forget shoes and accessories. Please also remember to pick up quick-change costumes after each show they will be located in a basket after each show.

·  Hair: All hair must be pulled back out of dancer’s face.

o  Pre-K & K-2 classes - curly ponytail.

o  3-5th-Senior - bangs back with high bun.

o  Hip-Hop classes - hair can be worn in any style if dancer has time to change hairstyle between pieces.

·  Makeup: Brown eye shadow, black eyeliner, black mascara, pink blush, and neutral pink lipstick. Exception: If costume is red lipstick must be red.

·  Shoes & Tights:

o  Pre-K and K-2 Combination classes must wear black tap shoes and pink ballet shoes for the recital.

o  K-2 Hip-Hop through Junior Hip-Hop must wear black jazz sneakers for the recital.

o  3-5th through Senior Combination classes must wear black tap shoes, black jazz shoes, and tan jazz shoes.

All dancers will have to purchase NON-shimmery caramel convertible tights. Tights will need to be purchased before studio pictures. Please use the Helpful Links page on the website to find a dance supply store near you.

Dressing Room Drop-off:
Parents are not allowed in dressing rooms unless they’re listed as a dressing room helper. If you want to be back helping please signup in the office. This is for the safety of all dancers! As the teachers may know each parent the volunteers do not. We would not want to release a child to someone who is not their parent by accident. You will be given a number for your child and will need to keep this number In order to pick your child up after the show. Please be patient with all the volunteers. They work very hard to keep your children safe and happy.

Students Watching Show:
During the recital, no students are allowed to go out into the audience until after their final dance. At that time, they may sit in the auditorium after removing their costumes and donning street clothes. If a student is in the finale, he/she is absolutely not aloud to go into the auditorium to watch the show. That includes all dancers involved in K-2 Combination through High School Combination. However, all students may watch the performances during dress rehearsal, and are encouraged to do so to cheer on their friends. Please have your dancer back stage five numbers before their dance during dress rehearsal.

Cameras:
No cameras with flash attachments or video recording devices are allowed during the recital. They may be used, however, during the dress rehearsal. A professional recorded DVD will be available for purchase. Please see the form attached at the end of this packet.

Costume Distribution:

All dancers with a fully paid account will be given their costume with specific instructions in classes. This will be at varying times throughout the month of May. Periodically, costumes will need alterations. Sizes for every costume run slightly different or a dancer may have grown since costumes were ordered back in the fall. My hope is for us to be as organized as possible to ensure a positive and memorable event for our dancers! Recital is a time your child will remember for years to come. It’s a wonderful event to celebrate your dancer’s achievements this year, build confidence, and strengthen friendships. I cannot wait to watch every dancer become a performer! Thank you for all your help in making this happen! Kelli Devine-Woods J
