RACE 1 – DANNEBROG CAFÉ BAR AND GRILL 3YO MAIDEN PLATE– 1000METRES

Throughout the race Lost My Patience displayed a tendency to lay out.

Passing the 200 metres Sid The Sloth laid in for a short distance before being straightened by its rider.

Chantal Willis rider of Geegee Pretty Jess was reminded of her obligations when using the whip in the vicinity of the shoulder.

RACE 2 – PEDRO’S RESTAURANT 3YO & UPWARDS MAIDEN PLATE– 1150 METRES

On arrival on course Westana underwent a veterinary examination as the mare had not raced for approximately 18 months.

Matthew Gatt rider of Ladercrombie was harmlessly dislodged en route to the barriers. Ladercrombie galloped free for a short distance before being captured. Ladercrombie was examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to take its place in the field.

Ladercrombie jumped away awkwardly.

Set Value was slow into stride.

On jumping away Assassin Le Beau was hampered when tightened for room by La Bretta which shifted out.

King Of Devonshire and Blinkety Blink raced wide throughout.

Passing the 1000 metres King Of Devonshire got its head up when being restrained.

Approaching the 600 metres CiciKiz got its head up when laying out before being restrained away from the heels of Ladercrombie.

Prior to straightening Frogmoor Louie shifted out away from Come On Charger and brushed Blinkety Blink.

Approaching the winning post Frogmoor Louie was inconvenienced when King Of Devonshire shifted out slightly and Kosta Innocence was restrained off the heels of Ladercrombie.

Grant Challinger rider of Kosta Innocence will be reminded of his obligations when using the whip when out of contention.

Subsequent to the race it was reported Assassin Le Beau had sustained abrasions to both hind coronet bands. A post-race veterinary examination confirmed a small laceration to the near hind coronet.

On return to scale Matthew Gatt rider of Ladercrombie explained that the gelding attempted to lunge through the rail prior to entering the mounting yard which harmlessly dislodged him. Matthew Gatt added that while trying to control the gelding he used his whip to prevent Ladercrombie from forcing him into the rail.

Subsequent to the race David Pires rider of Assassin Le Beau stated that he had some difficulty with visibility due to the gelding racing back in the field.

RACE 3 – BOSCOBEL OF ULVERSTONE 3YO & UPWARDS MAIDEN PLATE– 1350 METRES

Lady Spencer which was kicked by another runner behind the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to take her place in the field.

Correct weight was delayed when the connections of fourth placegetter Magestic Impulse requested to view the official patrol film. After doing so they were satisfied and correct weight was declared.

Prior to straightening Sheza Fatty Boomba which displayed a tendency to lay out was checked when tightened for room by Magestic Impulse (C Willis (a)) which shifted in slightly. Chantal Willis was notified to exercise more care when in similar circumstances.

In the early part of the straight Belfernolaid in when under pressure which resulted in rider Kelvin Sanderson having to pull the whip through to his left hand near the 200 metres.

Subsequent to the race Brendon McCoull rider of Sheza Fatty Boomba reported that he felt the mare did not appreciate racing to the inside of other runners.

Matthew Gatt rider of Sonetto which performed below expectations explained that the mare travelled well during the race and after being held up slightly in the early part of the home straight then failed to respond to his riding from the 200 metres.

RACE 4 – HYGAIN CLASS 1 HANDICAP– 1350 METRES

Acting on a confirmed phone call from Jason Clifford trainer of Seven Mile King who stated that the gelding was injured while being loaded into the float, Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 11.00 am. Jason Clifford was notified that prior to Seven Mile King racing again he must submit a veterinary certificate of fitness.

Shortly after the start Set For Tea made contact with Flanker and became unbalanced after shifting out away from Beer Belly. Flanker was then tightened between that mare and Neconni Girl which shifted in slightly.

Funambulism raced wide throughout.

Chantal Willis rider of Funambulism which raced wide throughout and then commenced to weaken from the 250 metres explained that the mare which normally races back was caught wide when ridden forward out of the gates and she was unable to gain a position with cover near the 1100 metres which then obliged her to race wide without cover throughout. Chantal Willis further stated that in her opinion this was the main factor in relation to its performance today.

Rasit Yetimova rider of Set For Tea which performed below expectations explained that the mare which normally leads did not appreciate racing under pressure early in the race when Funambulism raced outside of it and Beer Belly. He further added that in his view the mare did not handle the step up in distance.

David Fisher rider of Ash For Cash which performed below expectations explained that the gelding did not appreciate racing amongst horses and was reluctant to take advantage of a run which presented in the early part of the straight. He further added that it is the intention of connections to give the gelding a brief let up.

Adam Trinder trainer of Beer Belly which led today explained that at this stage of the gelding’s preparation it is the connections intention to restrict it to distances up to 1600 metres. Mr Trinder added that he instructed BulentMuhcu to ride positively and as the pace was only moderate during the early stages he was not surprised that the gelding led. Mr Trinder further added that connections intend to continue to ride Beer Belly forward in races up to 1600 metres.

RACE 5 – J BOAG AND SON MAIDEN/CLASS 1 PLATE– 1650 METRES

Shortly after the start Danestone and Player One were hampered when tightened for room between Mikayla’s Boy which shifted in slightly and Overproof which shifted out slightly.

In the early stages Argentinian Storm which was leading, got its head up when over racing.

Subsequent to the race Jockey P Keane rider of Am I There Yet reported that he was struck in the face by the head of the gelding. Patrick Keane was examined by the on course ambulance officers who reported that he had a headache, blurred vision and was slightly unsteady therefore deemed him unfit to fulfil his remaining riding engagements. Patrick Keane was advised that he must submit a medical certificate of fitness prior to riding in trackwork, trials or races.

From the 600 metres Sister Ignatius commenced to give ground and shortly after Mum And I, which was following, had to shift out abruptly to avoid that mare’s heels. Poponova which was racing to the outside of Mum And I had to be checked when taken out off its course. A post-race veterinary examination of Sister Ignatius revealed the mare to be coughing. Trainer T Roles was advised that he must submit a veterinary certificate including the results of an endoscopic evaluation prior to Sister Ignatius racing again.

Subsequent to the race a veterinary examination revealed that Mum And I had sustained a minor laceration to the off fore coronet band.

Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the reasons forMikayla’s Boy (G Challinger) being checked near the 200 metres.

RACE 6 – SIMONS DESIGN CENTRE CLASS 2 HANDICAP– 1150 METRES

On arrival on course Stormpatch underwent a veterinary examination as the gelding had not raced for since November 2011.

Adam Trinder trainer of Yuppony advised Stewards that the gelding would be ridden further back today from a wide barrier.

Correct weight was delayed when Trainer Ken Hanson and Sigrid Carr rider of fourth placegetter Stockbroker requested to view the official film over the concluding stages. After doing so connections decided not to proceed with an objection. After a further review of the official film Stewards acting under the provisions of AR164 lodged an objection on behalf of the connections of Stockbroker alleging interference by third placegetter Stormbay Bomber (C Willis (a)) approaching the 100 metres. After taking evidence from the relevant parties and having regard of the margin of a nose between the two horses the objection was upheld and correct weight was declared on the new numbers of 5,4,8,1. It was established that near the 200 metres Stockbroker had obtained a run to the inside of Stormbay Bomber. Shortly after, Stormbay Bomber shifted in slightly when insufficiently clear of Stockbroker thereby taking that gelding in off its course and then causing Sigrid Carr to check her mount before then obtaining a run to the inside of Stormbay Bomber

At a subsequent inquiry Apprentice C Willis (Stormbay Bomber) was severely reprimanded under AR 137(a) careless riding in that she allowed her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of Stockbroker which had to be checked by its rider. When assessing not to lay a charge against Miss Willis it was taken into account that she had initially straightened the gelding which had been laying in and the shift that caused Miss Carr to check her mount was only slight. Miss Willis was further notified she would be expected to do her best to prevent her mounts causing interference to other runners.

Stormpatch jumped away awkwardly and unbalanced Ismail Toker rider of the gelding, which resulted in it losing ground (4L)

RACE 7 – NWSJT STATE SHOW JUMPING CHAMPIONSHIPS BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP – 1350 METRES

Correct weight was delayed when Trainer Brendan McShane andBulentMuhcu rider of third placegetter Secumarequested to view the official photo of the finish. After doing so they were satisfied and correct weight was declared.

Ebbing jumped away awkwardly.

Shortly after the start Fairy Feet was tightened for room between Unoaked which shifted in and Blacko which was taken out slightly by Knots Sister which in turn was taken out by Red Willow. The tightening was aggravated when Gea Force shifted in and raced tight to the outside of Unoaked.

During the middle stages Ebbing over-raced when leading.

In the home straight Ebbing (Y Nishitani) displayed a tendency to hang out. From the 200 metres Ebbing when hanging out brushed Secuma on two occasions and took that gelding out off its course. Yassy Nishitani was severely reprimanded under AR 137(a) careless riding and notified that he would be expected to do more to straighten than he did on this occasion. When assessing penalty Stewards took into account that the gelding displayed a tendency to hang out and Yassy Nishitani was placed at a slight disadvantage due to his saddle moving slightly during the race.

Approaching the 100 metres Stephen Maskiell rider of Unoaked, after bridging his reins, then had difficulty in drawing the whip for a short distance.

Subsequent to the race Yassy Nishitani rider of Ebbing reported that his saddle moved during the race.

RACE 8 – SPORTSBET.COM.AU TOP TOTE PLUS BENCHMARK 68HANDICAP – 1150 METRES

Incat was hampered when tightened for room between Flash Al Moon and Bianforgetful which shifted in.

During the early stages Incat and Kirkson over-raced.

Incat raced wide throughout.

Near the 600 metres Westella Magic was restrained when racing tightly between Reach The Moon and Bianforgetful.

GENERAL

After receiving a report from Stipendiary Steward Dominic Tyson relating to the conduct of Apprentice David Fisher at the Spreyton trials on Tuesday 24 September 2013, Stewards intend to open an inquiry into his conduct. The inquiry was unable to proceed today due to Mr Tyson’s unavailability.

Adjourned Inquiries – Devonport Racing Club 15 September 2013

RACE 1 – DRC BAR AND BISTRO 3YO & UPWARDS MAIDEN PLATE – 900 METRES

Stewards concluded an inquiry into the riding actions of Apprentice David Fisher the rider of Frogmoor Louie. After viewing the available film and taking evidence from David Fisher it was established that approaching the winning post he slightly modified has action when attempting to ride the mare out without the whip. As Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that his action had affected the placings they accepted the explanation tendered by David Fisher.

The inquiry into New Vision and Hellova Street being checked near the 600 metres has been concluded. On the day the Stewards could not be provided with any video from the service provider due to a technical problem. Subsequent to the meeting the video service provider was unable to provide only head on vision of this incident. As the Stewards do not have any access to a video coverage that clearly shows the circumstances leading to both horses having to be checked they have concluded their inquiry into this matter.

RACE 6 – TAPETA FOOTINGS CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1350 METRES

Stewards concluded an inquiry into the reasons Shinto was checked approaching the 600 metres. After taking initial evidence at the meeting on 15 September 2013 from Rasit Yetimova rider of Shinto, Anthony Darmanin rider of Cuprona Road, Ismail Toker rider of Royal Beluga and Barry Campbell, Master of Ismail Toker, Stewards further evaluated additional video evidence and provided this vision to all parties today. After giving consideration to the evidence provided, Apprentice I Toker (Royal Beluga) was found guilty of a charge under AR 137(a) careless riding in that he allowed his mount to shift ground inwards when insufficiently clear of Cuprona Road resulting in that mount having to be checked. Stewards deemed the carelessness to be of a low level and the interference of a medium level. Ismail Toker’s licence to ride in races was suspended for two (2) Tasmanian race meetings to commence at midnight tonight and expire at midnight 13 October 2013.
