Internship/Work Study Job Description

COMMUNITY RELATIONS INTERN

Girls Inc seeks a Community Relations Intern who is excited to apply their academic knowledge to real-world writing, media relations, marketing, social media and volunteer coordination.

Responsibilities:

·  Assist in marketing of programs and organization

·  Assist in public relations for organization

·  Assist with community fairs and/or community events

·  Create press releases and print materials

·  Maintain database and records as needed

·  Co-manage social media

·  Assist with newsletter

·  Recruit new volunteers and engage current volunteers

·  Assist with mentor program as needed

·  Assist with fundraising events as needed

·  Update website as needed

Qualifications:

·  A current college student or college graduate

·  Strong organizational skills

·  Ability to solve problems independently and show initiative

·  Excellent phone skills (comfortable making phone calls to solicit for events)

·  Good oral and written communication skills

·  Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications a MUST!! (especially Word & Excel)

·  Knowledge of social media platforms including Hootsuite

·  Interested in women/girls rights

Timeframe:

·  Length of commitment: One semester

·  Hours: 10-30 hours per week (negotiable)

Location/Transportation: Our main office is located in the Downtown area;

100 Festival Park Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32202. Girls Inc. additionally serves girls throughout the Jacksonville Community. Intern must have own transportation.
