A SENATE RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING THE TIMBERLAND HIGH SCHOOL LADY WOLVES ON THEIR 2005 STATE AAA BASKETBALL TITLE, AND RECOGNIZING HEAD COACH CLEVE TOUCHBERRY AND HIS STAFF FOR THEIR SUCCESS IN BRINGING HOME THE FIRST GIRLS’ STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TO THE BERKELEY COUNTY SCHOOL’S TROPHY CASE.

Whereas, the Timberland High School Lady Wolves capped their 251 basketball season with a decisive 5844 win over the Clover Blue Eagles in the Colonial Center in Columbia; and

Whereas, that victory earned them the 20042005 Class AAA State basketball championship; and

Whereas, that state crown is the first championship for a girls’ athletic team in the nineyear history of the Berkeley County School; and

Whereas, Head Coach Cleve Touchberry, Region 8AAA Coach of the Year, and his staff guided the Lady Wolves through their stellar season, successfully building a team effort around University of Connecticut signee Kalana Greene; and

Whereas, Kalana’s 20042005 performance resulted in recognition as State Gatorade Player of the Year, Parade AllAmerican, WBCA National AllStar and High School Sports Report Player of the Year; and

Whereas, the entire team and staff deserve much praise for their outstanding season: Kalana Greene, Tiera Ravenell, Ashley Davis, Brittany Van Norden, Dynasty Greene, Latrell Williams, Candace Williams, Mercedes Litchfield, Shiedah Johnson, Latoya Vice, Denetria Middleton, Sharminik Darby, Ashley Gadsen, Deondra Hamilton, Kayla Greene; Support staff: Cherly Rogers, Shawn Dixon, Spencer Goodman, Byron Addison; Head Coach Cleve Touchberry, Assistant Coach Jeffery Addison, Assistant Coach Terrance Greene, and Principal Eugene B. Lemmon. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the Timberland High School Lady Wolves on their 2005 State AAA Basketball title, and recognize Head Coach Cleve Touchberry, and his staff for their success in bringing home the first girls’ state championship to the Berkeley County school’s trophy case.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Head Coach Cleve Touchberry on behalf of the team and Timberland High School.
