A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE AND COMMEND GREG BIFFLE ON HIS ILLUSTRIOUS CAREER AS A RACECAR DRIVER, AND TO WISH HIM FURTHER SUCCESS IN THE COMING YEARS.

Whereas, a Vancouver, Washington native, Greg Biffle began his racing career after graduating from high school in 1987, and founding a company that serviced the racing community; and

Whereas, Mr. Biffle used the connections he established in his business to propel him into the racing circuit, and in 1995 and 1996 he became a local celebrity for his participation in the NASCAR Winter Heat Series; and

Whereas, in his early years as a driver, Greg Biffle competed in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and won the Truck Series’ Rookie of the Year Award in 1998. Just two years later in 2000, he took the Craftsman Truck Series title and became the first Roush driver to win the championship in any of NASCAR’s three major series; and

Whereas, this championship cemented his position in NASCAR’s Busch Series, and in 2001 he again won Rookie of the Year commendations and earned five wins and a fourth place finish in overall driver points; and

Whereas, he continued to wow his devoted fans by winning the 2002 NASCAR Busch Series championship. His unbelievable talent in racing led Jack Roush to insist upon Greg Biffle’s competing with NASCAR’s elite in the Nextel Cup Series in 2003; and

Whereas, racing fulltime in both the Nextel Series and the Busch Series since 2003, he finished twentieth, seventeenth, and second, respectively, in the last three Nextel seasons, amassing six wins in 2005 alone. Despite suffering some minor setbacks in the beginning of the 2006 season, he again continues to hold a high place in point standings; and

Whereas, during his career, he has captured ten career Nextel Cup Series wins and won the Dodge Charger 500 at Darlington in 2006; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives is proud to recognize such a tremendous driver for his extraordinary dedication to his sport and to his fans and will enjoy watching him achieve further victories in the years to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate and commend Greg Biffle on his illustrious career as a racecar driver, and wish him further success in the coming years.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Greg Biffle.
