A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE THE SOUTH CAROLINA BANKERS ASSOCIATION ALONG WITH ITS YOUNG BANKERS DIVISION FOR THEIR EDUCATIONAL EFFORTS FOR CHILDREN AND TO COMMEND THEM FOR SPONSORING MONEYVILLE AT THE EDVENTURE CHILDREN’S MUSEUM FROM MAY 27, 2006, TO SEPTEMBER 5, 2006, WHICH WILL TEACH CHILDREN ABOUT FINANCIAL CONCEPTS AND LITERACY.
Whereas, the South Carolina Bankers Association along with its Young Bankers Division are sponsoring Moneyville at EdVenture Children’s Museum from May 27, 2006, to September 5, 2006, in an effort to help educate more of South Carolina’s children about financial concepts and literacy; and
Whereas, learning to see money in a whole new way while at the exhibit, children will find out how money is made, who invented money, become a stockbroker for a day, and see what a million dollars looks like; and
Whereas, through this incredible exhibit, children will watch how money moves through the economy from the Federal Reserve to the local bank and discover how compounding interest works and how it can help them save for the future; and
Whereas, as a new and exciting way to educate children on what money exactly is, the goal of Moneyville is to promote financial literacy, problem solving and math skills for all ages in a fun and interactive way; and
Whereas, this is an exciting new direction for the Young Bankers Division which is exploring new ways to help educate more of South Carolina’s children on financial issues; and
Whereas, for twentynine years, young bankers across the state have been traveling to schools teaching students about savings, credit, economics, and business as well as how to balance a checkbook and manage a family budget through South Carolina’s nationally recognized Personal Economic Program (PEP). This innovative program has reached over eightytwo thousand students and adults in South Carolina by teaching them about savings, credit, economics, and business; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are proud to recognized the South Carolina Bankers Association and its Young Bankers Division for creating such a fun and exciting exhibit for our children to learn and understand the concept of money. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the South Carolina Bankers Association along with its Young Bankers Division for their educational efforts for children and commend them for sponsoring Moneyville at the EdVenture Children’s Museum from May 27, 2006, to September 5, 2006, which will teach children about financial concepts and literacy.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the South Carolina Bankers Association and to its Young Bankers Division.
