A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE THE W. J. KEENAN HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR AND WISH THEM MUCH SUCCESS IN THE FUTURE.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina honor the members of the W. J. Keenan High School Boys Basketball AAA State Championship team; and

Whereas, the team finished the season with an overall record of thirtyone wins and one loss. Keenan High School of Columbia, experienced an overwhelming sixtyeight to fortyone state championship victory over Union High School on Saturday, March 10, 2001; and

Whereas, the members of the winning team were Alexander Harper, Terrance Hart, Micquael Thompson, Jerrod Coefield, Calton Wells, Christopher Irick, Patrick Crumpton, Brandon Trapp, Kenny Clark, Paris Daniels, Joseph McEachern, Robert Wylie, Thurman Zimmerman, Jarred Weeks, Jervin Trapp, Hodges Anthony, Gilbert Belton, Andre Belton, and Christopher Middleton; and

Whereas, these young men were coached by Zachary Norris and assistant coaches, Jacob Laurie, James Johnson, and Maurice Walker. The team had much support from their managers, Nathan Landy, Diamond Stone, and Tyra Gilmore; trainer, Dan Zmitrovich; statisticians, Anthony Thomas and Cooper Thompson; scorer, Sean Glover; camera, Brandon Stevenson; Athletic Director, Gerald Kelly; and Principal, Steve Wilson; and

Whereas, for the last two years the Keenan High School Boys Basketball team has also dominated the Columbia Tip Off Tournament, the Region IV Lower State Championship, and the Lower State Championship. The team has not lost a game in the State of South Carolina in two years; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly applaud the members of the W. J. Keenan High School Boys Basketball team on their fantastic season and their exciting championship win. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend and congratulate the W. J. Keenan High School Boys Basketball team for winning the AAA State Championship title for the second consecutive year and wish them much success in the future.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Zachary Norris at W. J. Keenan High School.
