Chapter 14: World War I
- Before World War I, attempts for peace coincided with tensions in Europe. Explain two examples where attempts for peace were evident and explain two examples where tensions existed between countries before World War I
- Four major factors that ultimately led to World War I included imperialism, nationalism, militarism, and the alliance system. Explain how each factor led to World War I. You may include examples to help support your answer.
- During World War I, new technologies and innovations were used that impacted the war differently. Address four new technologies or innovations and explain how the technologies impacted the war differently.
- After World War I, The Treaty of Versailles produced discontent within different countries and regions of the world. Explain four ways the treaty produced discontent in different countries or regions after World War I.
- During World War I, The Russian Revolution occurred that greatly changed Russian society. Explain what occurred during the following events and include in your explanation the historical significance of each event: Russian involvement in World War I, The March Revolution, The November Revolution, and The Russian Civil War.
Chapter 17: The Interwar Years
- Between World War I and World War II, different issues negatively impacted the world. Describe four of these issues and include in your description how they negatively impacted the world.
- Before World War II, three dictators rose to power in Germany, Italy, and The Soviet Union. Explain two ways the dictatorships of these men were similar and explain two ways the dictatorships of these men were different.

The interwar Years and World War II
- Hitler’s campaigns against the Jews began with the Nuremberg Laws and ended with the Final Solution. Explain Hitler’s perspective on Jews before he gained power in Germany. Then, explain three different stages of Hitler’s campaigns against the Jews.
Chapter 18: World War II
- Before World War II, challenges pertaining to international organizations and aggressive nations existed. Explain four of these challenges that countries experienced before World War II.
- European nations pursued a policy of appeasement during World War II. Explain four reasons why European nations pursued policies of appeasement.
- According to the portion of your textbook addressed “Why war came,” explain the four major reasons why World War II occurred.
- Explain the differences between an isolationist foreign policy and an interventionist foreign policy. Include in your explanation how the United States applied both isolationism and interventionism before they entered World War II.
- Explain how both Japanese aggression and American policies ultimately led to the attack on Pearl Harbor. Describe two significant events that happened shortly after Pearl Harbor.

The Cold War

- Explain how the apartheid system in South Africa worked. Explain how events inevitably caused apartheid to end in South Africa.
- Explain how divisions existed between the Hutu and Tutsi people before the Rwandan Genocide occurred. Explain the significant events that occurred during the Rwandan Genocide.
