Goal: Students will lean to make the most basic Japanese sentence which identifies people and things and ask and answer Yes/No question.
Objectives:
- Students will learn to make the basic sentence which identifies people and things.
Noun 1 wa Noun 2 desu
= Noun 1 is Noun 2.
- Students will learn to ask Yes/No question.
Noun 1 wa Noun 2 desu ka
= Is Noun1 Noun2 ?
- Students will learn to answer Yes/No question.
Hai, Noun 2 desu
= Yes, Noun1 is Noun 2.
Iie, Noun 2 dewa arimasen
= No, Noun 1 isn’t Noun 2.

Kore = This

Procedures:
- Introduce the basic Japanese sentence structure with some examples (3 minutes) T------Ss
Noun 1waNoun 2desu.
e.g. Kore wa shimbun desu. = This is a newspaper.
Kore wa Keitai desu. = This is a cell phone.
Watashi wa gakusei desu. = I am a student.
- Introduce asking and answering Yes/No question with some examples (2 minutes) T------Ss
Noun 1 wa Noun 2 desu ka.
e.g. Kore wa shimbun desu ka. = Is thisa newspaper?
Kore wa keitai desu ka. = Is thisa cell phone?
Watashi wa gakusei desu ka. = Am Ia student?
Hai, Noun 2 desu. = Yes, Noun 1 is Noun2
Iie, Noun 2dewa arimasen. = No, Noun 1 is notNoun2
- Introduce some Japanese vocabulary (2 minutes) T------Ss
Practice (4 minutes) T-----Ss
Teacher points out the students individually and ask questions and get the answer. Teacher uses objects then. And teacher also asks several students to make the question sentence and ask other students.
Pair work (4 minutes)
Teacher let the students make a pair and do the exercise I give them (I attached the last page) Before it starts, the students decide which asker or answerer they play first. And the asker looks at the picture and makes a question then the answerer answer it. The answer should give the both affirmation and negation answers. If the asker finished half questions, they change a roll and do last questions.
Home work:
Practice asking and answering Yes/No question by using other words in the textbook with partner before the next class. In the next class some of pairs show their question and answer.
