These questions seek team and empathy characteristics:

What different approaches do you use in talking with different people?

We've all worked with someone who is very difficult to get along with. Give me some examples of when this happened to you. Why was that person difficult? How did you handle that person?

How would others (administrators/co-workers) describe what you are like to work with?

Do you work at getting people to like you? (answer s/be yes). How do you go about doing this?

Is it important for people to think well of you?

How do you feel about doing "other peoples work"?

Are you a positive person? Do you have a positive attitude? *

· Let her answer then: On a one-to-ten scale, w/ 10 high, how would you rate yourself as a positive person? (s/be 9 or above).

Give some examples/scenario questions:

An angry employee calls that his/her fill in the blank with an example is wrong or was not processed. What do you do?

Follow up questions:

A fellow clerks says "send it to _fill in the blank with a person/dept., etc._ to handle". (You get the point of my question, will she simply follow suit or be customer friendly and team oriented with her co-workers in other departments).

You know something is not appropriate/right. What do you do?

(This is really to get at gossip but the question could be read to see if she'll go to mgt and ask questions).

How would you improve the image of the department?

What do you see is the relationship between blank department and blank departments?

Statement you could preface with a questions…

Although most of us work for a paycheck (haha), some see the payroll department as a means to that end; giving us an illusion of power in the organization. In reality we are another cog in the wheel providing service to employees who are providing our objective as an organization to educate our children. Knowing this, please answer the following questions in your opinion.

I would like to change the image of our department to be more customer friendly and project an image of cooperation not only with employees but the human resource department.
