To whom was referred a Bill (S.1215), to amend the Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, by adding Section 152560, so as to provide that actions be placed on the docket of the Court of Common Pleas, etc., respectfully
REPORT:
That they have duly and carefully considered the same, and recommend that the same do pass with amendment:
Amend the bill, as and if amended, page 1, line 26, in Section 15-25-60, as contained in SECTION 1, by striking the word /docket/ and inserting / jury trial roster /.
Amend title to conform.

A BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 152560, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT ACTIONS BE PLACED ON THE DOCKET OF THE COURT OF COMMON PLEAS WITHIN ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY DAYS OF THE FILING OF THE INITIAL COMPLAINT.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Section 152560 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
“Section 152560. In any civil trial in the court of common pleas, the plaintiff is entitled to demand that the trial be placed on the docket for trial or hearing within one hundred eighty days from the date of the filing of the initial complaint, unless the court for good cause otherwise directs.”
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor and applies to causes of action filed on or after the effective date of this section.
