Artist’s statement

In my work I am choosing variety of mediums to express the idea. I found the idea as a state through which artist is living. During that state I am trying to express my thoughts in different ways. I think that one should not hesitate to use different mediums; if the concept is clear then it is all matter of decision how are we going to make our work.

Starting from the ground that we are walking on, through the water that we are consisted of, I am searching and finding how we are related to basic elements. How can we make invisible things visible and other way round? How can we express the scientifically proved dimensions that we cannot see because our state of the mind and our perception is using different frequency?

As an artist I would like not to be manifested. Still I am leaving traces and using the language of art mediums while trying to find out diversity and bond between art and philosophy, art and science?

Thinking about ancient times, thinking about beginning of twentieth century, being aware that we are now at the beginning of new century I wonder if art is a simple need of one man.

I do not think that art should be closed in galleries and be reserved to art educated people. I think that everybody’s reaction on art work is worth questioning, worth thinking.

We are breathing in the oxygen and breathing out the carbon dioxide; but we are breathing in the art and breathing the art out. Art is life and life is art. We have to be determinate to make art.

I have attached statements for every particular work in my Power point presentation.

Motivation letter

I found this program very challenging for me. This will be a great opportunity for me to exchange ideas and thoughts with other students that are coming from different backgrounds.

I would like to talk with my student colleagues about what do they think art is. What is art for them?

Is it a simple act of drawing with pencil and making an object out of paper, an object of worship or it is a simple act that nobody can see but is still art because artist said so?

I would like to be involved in the discussions about evaluation of the art works.

I think that my work and my art are still on the path of searching the position, but I am also wondering if the position should be found. Should we be placed in our roles that give us certainty of being important to society?

I think artist shouldn’t give up doing art. Reasons can be different but the important thing is that what we do is important to us. We have to be determinate to make art.

We are at the beginning of new ways of understanding art, of new questionings, we should let new concepts and new ideas float and give us strength give us new art.

I think that working in big and later in smaller groups will not let us surrender, that it will refresh our minds and keep us open for new influences, new ways of art.

I think that all young artists need that kind of discussions. Personally I am always open for discussions, for exchanging ideas that are broadening our views. I will do my best to participate in discussions and to shape the topics. With my knowledge and my thoughts I am going to try to clear up some old concepts and make a possibility of bringing out the new ones.

Sincerely

Maja Beganovic
