Student Teacher, Willmar Junior High School, Willmar, MN.

Taught two periods of 7th grade “American History” and two periods of 9th grade “American Civics” for a length of eleven weeks as well as developed and taught units on the American legislative branch, the American executive branch, and criminal law. In the 7th grade, developed and taught an extensive unit on the 2000 Election process, which involved special projects, bulletin boards, and an individual election booklet prepared by each student. Units on English America (1607-1760) and Pre-Revolutionary America were also covered.

Practicum Teacher, Morris Area High School, Morris, MN.

Completed 90 hours in the classroom with tenth, eleventh, and twelfth graders, which included: assisting the cooperating teacher during lessons, administering and correcting tests, tutoring students having difficulty, and teaching units on polls and voting during “on and off” election years. Also conducted an in-class “Election 2000,” with analyzed classroom polling and voting results versus the national results.

7th Grade Football Coach, New London-Spicer Schools, New London, MN.

Organized and coached the 7th grade football program at NLS for an eight-week season. Held practices stressing fundamentals, made position assignments, and participated in five games each year, with records of 4-1 and 5-0. Scouted varsity games for NLS.

Camp Counselor, Shores of St. Andrew Bible Camp, New London, MN.

Was responsible for 10-20 different young people each week. Live, assisted, and worked closely with these youth. Taught a curriculum and discussion period daily. Conducted skill workshops in archery and first aid. Coordinated camp activities ranging from skits and campfires to overnight trips. Camp consisted of five junior high weeks, five elementary weeks, and one week of mentally handicapped adults.

Provided individualized instruction for junior high students having difficulty in the areas of geography, history, and civics. Taught simple lessons and helped students in library research.
