10B: Media is Commercial (About $) Scavenger Hunt

  1. Go to Badgerlink from the link on the library homepage.

Go

down to the word EBSCO. Click on DATABASE LIST (next to EBSCO). Click MAS ULTRA- SCHOOL EDITION and then CONTINUE.

Type in finances and media. Click on full-text (off to the left). Change the PUBLICATION DATE (right under full-text)to the last 2 years. Skim the article. In the space provided below, write down a one-line summary of the article. List name of magazine, title of article, and date.

Click on TELEVISION under MEASUREMENT (in the top toolbar). Read this and then describe what Nielsen Media is all about and what it does.

Next, go to the section on the same page on the right hand under TELEVISION FAST FACTS. Click on WEEKLY TV RATINGS. List two of the top TV shows. Then describe the commercial or monetary impact the ratings have on these TV shows. What does being a top rated show mean as far as media and money are concerned?
