Who does your money benefit? Your money goes directly to young tennis players who want to pursue the game of tennis, but who lack the financial resources to do so. 100% of your contributions will be awarded directly to high school tennis teams in need, as well as individualswho play tennis and are in need of financial assistance. Additional Information About the Team / This school’s tennis budget has been cut in half for the 2014-15 schoolyear, so the team and its players are in great need of financial support. / Players focus on the team’s DIG Program (Dignity Integrity & Grace) which helps grow the game and student involvement in the community. / This school’s goal is to introduce more students to tennis and to grow tennis in the community. / This school is trying to build its girls tennis team and is in need of financial support so that its players have access to the necessary equipment and instruction.

How is your money distributed? The NTF works with the Northern Section to distribute the money in the form of Adopt-A-Team high school program grants and scholarship awards to deserving young men and women. The individual scholarship awards typically range between $250 and $750, but can be up to $1,000. The application process is open to eligible junior players in compliance with State High School Activities Association guidelines. Adopt-A-Team high school program grants are for $1,000.

What expenses do the scholarship awards cover? The applicants must identify their anticipated expenses, which typically consist of tournament entry fees, lessons, or very basic equipment such as shoes, rackets, and strings. Adopt-A-Team requests typically consist of transportation, teaching aids, and equipment. USTA Northern follows up with the grant and scholarship award recipients to ensure that the money is spent on these things.

When are the scholarships awarded? The NTF and Northern Section awardplayer scholarships in January, May, and September. Adopt-A-Team high school program grants are distributed in the fall.

Is my contribution tax deductible? Yes, USTA Northern is a 501(c)(3) organization. Contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
