2. NAMI Standards of Excellence

From 2006 to 2011, NAMI leaders and members worked together to craft “mutually agreed upon standards of operation.” The call for standards began in 2006 when members identified organizational standards as critical to NAMI’s growth and future success. As of June 2015, 48 NAMI State Organizations and 9 Affiliates have completed this first phase of the process.
Standards are helping us build the NAMI brand, to make NAMI the household name that leaders and members want us to be. Check with your State Organization office to find out if they have completed this step.

The NAMI State Organization has the powerful role of making the endorsement for a NAMI Affiliate to be re-affiliated with NAMI. The endorsement conveys the NAMI State Organization’sconfidence that the expectations have been met and that all the required documentation has been submitted, reviewed and aligns with the NAMI Standards of Excellence for Affiliates. The NAMI State Organization sends a letter of endorsement to NAMI for review, then it is forwarded to the NAMI Board for consideration.

The final step in the process requires that the Affiliate, the State Organization and NAMI complete paperwork to define the legal parameters of everyone’s relationship going forward.

10.NAMI State Organization contact
