1. Three 2007-08 Budget Proposals Submitted by NS Division…
Although time pressures limited the feasibility of more responses, 3 Budget proposals were submitted for consideration of the BDC/PAC last Thursday: Sean Chamberlin and Rick Lozinsky submitted, “Science Fridays at FullertonCollege…” ($ 20.4 K), Brendan O’Neil submitted, “Mobile Computer System for Physics and Astronomy,” ($ 28.3 K), and Kent Gordon submitted, “Horticulture Marketing/Outreach Program,” ($ 36.0 K). Congratulations to Sean, Rick, Brendan, and Kent for their admirable participation!
Because it appears this process is here to stay, NS Division will begin planning of our potential BPs early next fall for next year’s budget cycle.
2. Architects Request Department Meetings this Week…
After the Design Review meetinglast Thursday, Lucien indicatedto Bruce that they would like to meet with Departmentsthis week.
Starting Tuesday at Noon, how about this for a sequence: Chemistry, Physics, and Earth & Environmental Science (if there is time)?Biology and others (e.g., Earth & Environmental Science if needed)couldmeet starting onThursday noon.
If you have not already replied, please let Bruce know if that works or what would work better for your individual department.
3. Oceans & the Future of Earth’s Climate…Dr. Francois Primeau (UC Irvine), May 1, Rm 414…
Dr. Francois Primeau, Assistant Professor of Earth System Science at UC Irvine will speak on the ocean’s role in global climatic change. Dr. Primeau’s research centers on ocean circulation and global biogeochemical cycles.
This Futures event will occur on Tuesday, May 1 in Room 414, at 7 pm. Mark your calendars!
4. Last Day to Withdraw from a Class is Saturday, April 28…
A&R remindsfaculty to please go to the Drop/Withdrawal Students from a Class List on WebStar and drop any student who is no longer participating in your class. Refer to the WebStar instructions on the Staff Development website. (

5. Science Club Text Drive and Officer Elections…

Science Club is hosting a textbook donation drive for the "Bridge to Asia" program. Please consider donating any textbooks (in any subject, up to 15 years old) to be sent to universities in China and other Asian countries. Let a science club member or Jo Wu know if you need pickup during your office hours. Books will be delivered on May 3.
Science Club will be holding elections for next year's club officers on May 3 at 2pm in Room 420. If a full-time science student with 2.0 GPA is interested in running for President, VP, Secretary, Treasurer, or Programs Director -- please email a paragraph for the election ballot by April 30 to . Absentee votes can be hand- delivered to Jo Wu from May 1-3 .
6. Please Familiarize Yourself with FC Emergency Response Guide…
