INFORMATIONAL MEETING AGENDA

MARCH 22, 2012

1.  Introduction: Coaches Michelle Smith, Krisi Pilling, Kim Campbell and Alex Papp

2.  Football Cheerleading Program History

3.  Football Cheerleading/Competition Cheerleading: Athletes may participate on both squads; Competition cheerleading tryouts are next week

4.  Grade Eligibility: Per GHSA, current 9th-11th graders must pass a minimum of 5/7 classes from 1st semester; All 8th graders are eligible

5.  Clinic/Tryout Dates:

**Clinic: Tuesday, May 1st-Thursday, May 3rd in the Old Gym; 5:00-6:30pm; Plain clothing (nothing involving former cheerleading squads), cheerleading shoes, hair in tight ponytail, short fingernails, no polish, and no gum; Tryout clinic is closed to the public

**Final tryouts: Friday, May 4th in the Old Gym at 4:00pm for the current 9th-11th graders and 5:00pm for the 8th graders; White t-shirt, black shorts, tryout number; cheerleading shoes, hair in tight ponytail, short fingernails, no polish, and no gum; Decisions of unbiased judges are final; Final tryout is closed to the public

6.  Clinic evaluations: Athletes will be evaluated by the coaches during the 3 clinic days for spirit, attitude, sportsmanship, teamwork and work ethic; Additional evaluations will include academic/discipline history

7.  Needed skills for final tryout: Cheer, jumps, dance and spirit; No tumbling or stunting required

8.  TNT: Offering Pre-team classes and discounted tumbling classes for the people trying out

9.  Tentative Squad Formations: Varsity (11th-12th graders) and JV (10th-11th graders); Freshman (9th graders)

10. Raider CHEER Squad: Sponsor Kelly Fields

11. Cheerleader Information Sheets/ Headshot: Due Friday, April 20th

12. Physicals: Saturday, April 14th in the cafeteria; 8:00am-noon; cost is $20.00; Additional concussion management/baseline screening is available for $10.00. A current physical must be on file with NFHS in order to participate in tryout week. Complete copies of current physicals from middle schools are needed if a physical is not on file at NFHS.

13. Summer Camp: Thursday, July 26th – Friday, July 27th; Times/Location TBA

14. Paint days/Social activities: Dates TBA

15. GHSA Mandated Dead Week: July 2nd – 6th

16. Practice: Begins August 1st; August: 2-3 days/week; September until the end of the season: 1 day/week

17. Games: 9th/JV ~ Thursdays at 6:00pm; Varsity ~ Fridays at 7:30pm

18. Community Service: Girls must complete a minimum of 4 hours of community service hours during the season; must be cheer team/squad related

19. Estimated Fees/Fundraising

20. Scholarships: Holler for a Dollar Scholarship ($500-$1000); Melanie Hubbard Memorial Scholarship ($500)
