6. Entry details

i. Entry fee of event is Rs 700 for Non-Subscribers, Rs. 600 for Subscribers and Rs. 500 for Annual and Life Members of ‘Kolkata on WHEELS’ magazine - per team of maximum four participants including lunch.

ii. Collect a Money Receipt / Email acknowledgement on event registration.

iii. Event entry is limited and will be accepted on first-come-first basis.

8. Entrant & Team Eligibility

iA competing team shall comprise of minimum 2 and maximum 4 participants in a light motor vehicle.

ii. Any competent person with a valid driving licence of light motor vehicle may drive the competing vehicle.

iii. All relevant documents of the competing vehicle should be valid on the date of the event and carried inside the vehicle at the time of the event. It may be requisitioned by the Organiser or any competent authority during the event.

10. Reporting formalities

i) Reporting time is 8.30 am at the event venue (to be announced).

ii) On parking the competition vehicle at the flag-off line-up, a member from the team shall have to report at the Registration booth along with the Money Receipt / Email acknowledgment issued against the Entry. Failure to produce the Money Receipt / Email acknowledgment shall bar participation to the event.

iii) S/he shall be required to sign the Reporting Sheet at the Registration booth.

iv) On reporting, the competing team shall receive the following: (a) Competition Number stickers (b) Sponsors' stickers (c) Competition Kit (d) Lunch coupons

11. Parking sequence

i) On arriving at the event venue, the competing cars shall be lined up according to the competition numbers issued by the Registration booth.

ii) After finishing the event, on return to the event venue, the competing cars may be parked atrandom order inany available parking space.

12. Format of the event

The event shall comprise of four activities as follows:-

i) 8 Clues shall be given to each competing team during the event through different modes of communication. Correct answers to these clues shall lead the teams to 8 secret destinations inside the city of Kolkata within a maximum distance of 80kilometres.

On solving the clues, the competing teams shall try to reach the 8 secret destinations within a time range of minimum 3 hours and maximum 3 hours 30 minutes from its flag off time. On reaching the secret destinations, the team shall be endorsed by the Team WHEELS’ Marshals with stickers on their 'Answer Sheet' to signify their arrivals at the secret destinations.

There shall be no order or sequence to reach these secret destinations and can be attempted in any order. This exercise is aimed to test the knowledge of the competitors on the city of Kolkata.

ii) A question paper containing 8 questions shall be given to the competing teams. These 8 questions shall be based on subjects of Kolkata and Motoring. The answers to these questions shall have to be ticked on the 'Answer Sheet' given in the Competition Kit. The 'Answer Sheet' shall have to be submitted at the Registration booth on returning to the event venue. No overwriting is allowed on the 'Answer Sheet'.

iii)3 scavenger items have to be collected by the competitors as posted on the official Facebook Page of ‘Kolkata on Wheels’ during the event. On return, the collected items shall have to be submitted at the Registration booth along with the 'Answer Sheet'.

iv)All competing vehicles will be secretly monitored by hidden video cameras on proper driving skill and obedience to necessary traffic rules and regulations required on the competition stretch.

13. CompetitionPoints

i) 8 correct destinations x 100 points = 800 points

ii) 8 correct answers x 10 points = 80 points

iii)Collection of 3 Scavenger items x 40 points= 120 points

Total = 1000 points

iv)Violation of traffic rules and regulations= Deduction of 100 points per recorded violation

14. Additional Penalties

i. Late reporting at the event venue after 9.15 am = 50 points

ii. Finishing the event early - before 3.00 hours of time from flag-off = 50 points

iii.Loss or not putting stickers on the competing vehicle = 50 points per sticker

iv. Loss of 'Answer Sheet' = Exclusion from the event

v. Vehicle involved in an accident during the event = Exclusion from the event

15. Distance of the event

The maximum distanceto be covered by the competing teams shall be 80 kilometres.

16. Speed of the event

The recommended driving speed of the event shall be as per the prescribed traffic rules and regulation of the city traffic police. No extra points shall be awarded for reaching the secret destinations or finishing the event early. On the contrary, arrival before 3 hours from the time of flag-off will attract a penalty of 50 points irrespective of finishing all the event activities. A grace time of 30 minutes shall be given to finish the event safely. Thus the maximum permissible time to finish the event shall be 3 hours 30 minutes from the flag-off time of a competing team.

17. Finisher

A competitor shall be deemed to be a 'finisher' on compliance of the following:

i) A team finishing the event within the maximum permissible time limit of 3 hours 30 minutes from its flag off time.

ii) Timely deposit of the 'Answer Sheet' at the Registration booth.

18. Prizes

1st Prize: Cash prize of Rs. 10000/- + ‘Car of the City’ rolling trophy + individual mementos

2nd Prize: Cash prize of Rs. 5000/- + individual mementos

3rd Prize: Cash prize of Rs. 3000/- + individual mementos

4th Prize: Cash prize of Rs. 2000/- + individual mementos

5th Prize: Cash prize of Rs. 1000/- + individual mementos

Special Prize: Team of ‘Life WHEELER’ of ‘Kolkata on WHEELS’ with highest points

19. Tie Breaker

In case of a tie, the winner shall be decided on the basis of the least distance travelled between the teams scoring the same points. If a tie occurs even in the distance travelled criterion,least time required to finish the event shall be considered as the tie breaker.

20. Judgment

In case of any dispute concerning the event, the same has to be submitted in writing at the Registration booth. The Organiser will decide on the matter and pronounce their judgment which shall be final and binding on all competitors.

21. Refreshments

Drinking water and lunch (vegetarian / non-vegetarian) will be served during the event to all competing teams against food coupons issued according to event registrations.

22. Gadgets/materials required

At least two smart phones (preferably with 3G/4G connectivity) enabled with Text Messaging Service (SMS), Facebook, Google Map, web browsing facility will be required by each team to compete in the event. The numbers of these two phones must be entered in the Entry Form of the team.

The competing teams may also use any gadget / communication device / material that they deem fit for the event such as Smart phones, GPS, laptop, digital tab, compass etc. Other materials such as clip boards, scissors,gum, camera, umbrella, note book, pen, calculator, spare bag etc. may also be used by the teams.

23. Eligible team

i) The Team Leader and/or team mates should be conversantwith the Event Regulations before reporting to the event venue.

ii) The 4 competition number stickers shall have to be affixed on the vehicle as follows:

(a) Bonnet (b) Left front door (c) Right front door (d) Boot

iii)The competing teams have to brand their vehicles with the sponsors’ stickers as per the ‘Car Branding Guideline’ given in the Competition Kit.

iv) All competing team including the Team Leader shall have to attend the Competitors' Briefing Meeting at 9.30 am at the Event Venue to understand the event format and procedures.

v)Competitors are expected to behave properly with the Event Officials, Sponsors and Organisers ofthe event. Any lapse in this respect shall lead to exclusion from the event. The decision of the Organisers shall be final in this respect.

24. Emergency situations

In case of an emergency, it shall be the responsibility of the competing team to take necessary action according to its own convenience.

25. Supplementary Rules

The Organiser shall be within the power and authority to frame supplementary rules and regulations to the provisions and terms as contained in this Event Regulation for organising the event. Such supplementary rules and regulations shall be published in the official website and displayed at the event venue on the date of the event.

26. Disclaimer

Motor sport is dangerous. Whoever participates in the event does so at his/her own risk. The Organiser declines liability for any act or omission resulting in any loss, injury or accident caused by or to the participants and/or competing cars and/or person or persons or property of a third party before, during or after the event. The Organiser, Sponsors, Cosponsors, Associates, Partners, Supporters and authorities of Government of India or Government of West Bengal also decline to accept any liability. Participants shall be held entirely responsible for any accident or breach of law in which they may be involved and shall declare to the Organiser all particulars of any incident from which liabilities may arise and shall indemnify the Organiser, Sponsors, Cosponsors, Associates, Partners, Supporters and authorities of Government of India or Government of West Bengal in regard to any liability. Any participant or competing car shall have no claim against the Organiser, Sponsors, Cosponsors, Associates, Partners, Supporters and authorities of Government of India or Government of West Bengal arising out of any action of the Organiser, their representatives, agents or officials during the event.
