2. Accommodation

Arranging accommodation is the responsibility of individual competitors. Nottingham Squash Club continues to have an arrangement with the St James Hotel (Previously Rutland Square Hotel). Please see details at section 6 below.

3. Entry Fee

There will be no entry fee.

All entries for the CSSC Squash Masters Tournament 2018 at Nottingham on 18/19 May will receive a free T-shirt, provided the entry is received by May 1st. We cannot guarantee a T-shirt to players entering after this date.

REGISTRATION: Before competing all participants must register in person at the Tournament Reception.

IMPORTANT: These events are active and players should be aware of the physical activities involved. CSSC reserves the right to cancel the event if under subscribed.

All CSSC members taking part in the event are covered by CSSC Sports and Leisure Public Liability Insurance. Please note that this policy is NOT a Personal Accident Policy. Members are encouraged to take out their own insurance policy.

The organiser reserves the right to cancel any event if there are insufficient entries. The organiser’s decision on all matters is final. All entries to be received by10th May 2018.

CIVIL SERVICE SQUASH RACKETS ASSOCIATION

NATIONAL SQUASH MASTERS (FORMERLY, AGE GROUP TOURNAMENT)

Arrangements have been made to hold the 2018 CSSC Masters Squash tournament at Nottingham Squash Club, The Park, Nottingham NG7 1BX on 18/19 May 2018. Please note the following:-

  1. Organisation

The co-ordinators of the event are the CS Squash Rackets Association (CSSRA) and the CSSC Event Team. The CSSRA will manage all aspects of the tournament venue and playing arrangements, whilst entries will be managed by the CSSC Event Team.

  1. Date & Venue

The Competition will take place from 1pm on Friday 18 May 2018 and will finish by 5pm on Saturday 19May 2018. It will be held at the Nottingham Squash Club, The Park, Nottingham NG7 1BX Tel: 0115 941 7022.

  1. Format of event

a)The event is open to all subscribing members of CSSC Sports & Leisure. Membership numbers must be quoted on the entry form.

b)The event will be an Age group tournament for both men and women. Players can only play in one age group.

c)Age groups are as follows: Men Over 35, Men Over 45, Men Over 55, Men Over 65 Ladies Over 40, Ladies Over 50.

d)Players are asked to indicate their playing standard, using the England Squash grades guideline A-F, with supplementary information to assist the organisers with the draw, seeding, etc.

e)Players will be expected to mark matches.

f)Players will be expected to wear suitable clothing and conform to the Nottingham Squash Club rules.

  1. Competition Format

a)Matches will be the best of 5 games or 3 games, depending on format and numbers. HiHo (points won on hand in only) or PARS (point a rally) scoring may also be used. The tournament committee have absolute discretion to determine the most appropriate format for matches.

b)Matches will be played under the Rules of the Game and England Squash approved squash balls will be provided.

c)Court time is from 1.00 to 6pm on Friday 18 Mayand between 10.00am and 5pm on Saturday 19 May with all the finals scheduled for the afternoon of Saturday.

d)Competitors will be notified of the draw as soon as possible after all entries have been received, but no guarantee can be made that this will be available in advance of the competition. Competitors should be available for play at 1pm on Friday 18 May. Any competitors with difficulties with the start time should advise the organisers as soon as possible. Consideration will be given where possible.

e)The top grade for the men’s Over 35, 45, 55 and Over 65 and the ladies’ Over 40 events will be playing for CSSC Veterans and Vintage squash trophies.

f)The tournament is being played partly in tandem with a racketball competition on the Saturday only. This has proved problematical in the past requiring an excessive number of games to be played so please enter either the squash masters OR the racketball event.

g)We plan to have a Sports massage therapist available during the event to treat and rejuvenate tired muscles and bodies.

  1. Social Event

A 2 course evening meal/quiz at the squash club is being planned for Friday at a cost of £10.00 for the meal. This will be open to entrants and guests. Entrants may make their own arrangements if they prefer.

  1. Accommodation and Meals

A light buffet lunch (free to competitors) will be provided at the club during the competition on Friday and Saturday.

* For this event the CSSRA have made an arrangement with a local hotel. The St James’s Hotel in St James Street, Nottingham NG1 6FJ (Tel 0115 941 1114)

Individuals making bookings with the St James’s Hotel will be responsible for any cancellation charges incurred. Bookings should be made individually with the hotel, quoting reference ‘Squash Tournament’ when making a reservation. This offer is until one month prior to the event and any rooms that haven’t been booked will then be released to the public for general sale. Rooms at these rates are available on a first come basis and at the discretion of the hotel, so early booking is advised.

The other hotels listed above do also offer reasonable rates so may be worth checking.

  1. Entries

a)An entry form is enclosed. Entries for the competition can be taken up to Monday 10th May 2018. It would be useful if you would advise the organisers as soon as possible if you intend to enter. Late entries for the competition are at the discretion of the tournament organisers.

b)If you do not know your CSSC number, contact CSSC at 01494 888444. If membership is being applied for, the entry form can be sent before the number is issued.

8. Costs

a)There will be no entry fee.

b)The cost of the competition (court time, lunch, and trophies) will be met by CSSC. Competitors will be responsible for their travel expenses and accommodation.

  1. Funding

This event is classified as an Open Championship. As such, funding assistance for travel and accommodation expenses may be applied for through the CSSC National Travel Policy.

This is administered regionally. For details and application forms go to “Subsidies” and click on “National Travel Policy” for all of the claim forms and guidance notes.

If you do not know which Region you are in, it is on your membership card. If you haven't got one of those, now issued annually, then contact CSSC on 01494 888415 as you will be missing out on a lot of other CSSC benefits.

You are advised to check the Travel Policy as soon as possible to allow adequate time for you to seek clarification, if required, bearing in mind that most CSSC Regions and Areas are run by volunteers.

Another possible source for you to explore for funding is your Department. If you claim through your department then you cannot claim through CSSC National Travel Policy.

10. Liability

You are reminded that CSSC (and the CSSRA) can accept no liability whatsoever for personal injury, loss or damage incurred by any competitor whilst taking part in competitions. Members are recommended to make their own arrangements for insurance against injuries, etc.
