Job Title: / HR MANAGER
Responsible for: / HR Administrator and HR Volunteer
Location: / Woking Hospice
Hours of Work:
Salary: / 22.5 hours over 3 days
£30,000pa (pro rata £18,000pa)

Accountable To: / HR & Volunteer Director

Responsibilities

1.1  To provide advice to staff on the interpretation and implementation of HR policies and procedures within the framework of employment legislation.

1.2  To provide advice and support to managers on HR employee relation issues, such as absence and performance management, assisting managers in the preparation and undertaking as necessary HR related investigations.

1.3  To attend and provide HR advice at Disciplinary and other HR related panels.

1.4  Oversee the recruitment process including undertaking interviewing and the development, in liaison with line managers, of Hospice job descriptions and person specifications offering advice and practical assistance as necessary ensuring that they and the recruitment process is compliant with Equal Opportunities legislation.

1.5  In liaison with the HR & Volunteer Services Director ensure the HR database is up to date and accurate.

1.6  To ensure induction and exit processes are undertaken conducting exit interviews as necessary, providing data to support recruitment and retention

1.7  To undertake HR project work as directed by the HR & Volunteer Services Director.

1.8  To ensure that HR processes meet departmental needs and those of the organisation ensuring that information passed between HR and payroll is accurate and relevant.

1.9  To support the HR & Volunteer Services Director in implementing new terms and conditions and contribute to the development of employee contracts.

1.10  To co-ordinate the Occupational Health clinics and appointments

1.11  To work with the Quality and Audit Lead undertaking HR audit and review processes as required.

1.12  To review and update HR policy and procedures as required.

1.13  To assist with the set up and on-going administration of the E Learning System.

1.14  To work with departments to organise internal and external training courses

1.15  To run monthly staff Inductions.

1.16  To oversee employee services, rewards and benefits such as eye care vouchers, complementary therapy sessions, counselling and childcare vouchers

1.17  To ensure the Hospice appraisals across the Hospice are undertaken and the records of these are up to date and accurate so as to ensure compliance with CQC requirements. Report noncompliance and/or any concern to the HR & Volunteer Services Director.

Management

1.18  To line manage the HR administrator and HR volunteer. Providing advice and support to the team as necessary, undertaking annual appraisals and one to ones on a regular basis.

1.19  To ensure Hospice values are upheld within the team and that good relationships are fostered and maintained by the HR team across the organisation and with external bodies;

1.20  To deputise for the HR Director when required.

4.1.  To maintain your own professional development and keep up-to-date with employment legislation and changes in HR practice and research;

4.2.  To identify appropriate personal development needs and agree with the HR & Volunteer Services Director so as to keep up to date with the range of professional and personal skills required by the post

Employees will treat as confidential all information regarding the business of the Hospice, information with regard to and agreements with suppliers, and information gained about other employees and consultants.

Employees must be aware of the responsibilities placed on them under the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) to ensure that the agreed safety procedures are carried out to maintain a safe environment for employees and visitors.

PERSON SPECIFICATION - HR Manager

ATTRIBUTES / SKILLS / ESSENTIAL / DESIRABLE
Education / CIPD qualified to Level 5 or equivalent
Experience / Minimum 5 years generalist HR experience
Proven experience in providing advice, information and guidance on recruitment, HR policies and procedures and supporting employees and managers through the entire employee / Experience of working in Charity or Health Care
Skills / - Excellent organisational skills
- Ability to effectively negotiate and influence management

- Must be able to demonstrate good experience of working with HR database management systems / Experience of either CIPHR or CASCADE
