Monthly EOL / PCN Summary

The following list summarizes all PCN and EOL notices that were issued last month. The url link to the SJO Intranet is provided in each instance. Please note that the Intranet ( contains all EOL notices issued since January 1, 2005; it includes all PCNs issued since January 1, 1999. A summary of all EOLs issued is available via the Internet:

Please send a message to if you have any PCN or EOL related questions.

- 02APR09: PCN #: RC091301 – AT91SAM9G20 Revision and Ordering Code Change

Improvement of on-chip power management logic, simplifying external logic.

Few exceptions may apply, for a detailed description go to section 41.8 in the AT91SAM9G20 full datasheet dated 11-Mar-09, reference 6384C which can be found on the Atmel WEB page in the ARM Microcontroller product section.

- 03APR09: PCN #: RC091302 – AT91SAM9261 Revision and Ordering Code Change

Package has been upgraded from RoHS compliant to Green.

This change has no impact on the soldering profile of the device.

Boot ROM has been updated:

The following errata has been corrected:

42.2.3.1 Boot ROM: NAND Flash Boot is not Functional

42.2.3.2 Boot ROM: Watchdog Disable

For a detailed description of these changes refer to the AT91SAM9261 full datasheet dated 23-Mar-09, reference 6062M which can be found on the Atmel WEB page in the ARM Microcontroller product section.

- 20APR09: PCN #: CC091602 – The Serial EEPROM Automotive grade wafers with Part Numbers: AT24C64A-WA5.0-11, AT93C66A-WA5.0-11 and AT24C32A-WA5011A9 will not be marked with ink; instead electronic wafer test results maps will be provided. This is being done to improve efficiency in operations and manufacturing of wafer sales products.

- 24APR09: EOL #: HE091702 – EOL 2.4-GHz Transceiver IC T2803. Market and technique change and lack of demand.

- 27APR09: PCN #: CC091701 – Optimized the layout of the Serial EEPROM Automotive Grade AT93C46 device (3-wire interface, 1-Kbit density and x8 as well x16 data format memory organization). The catalogue part number AT93C46 will be replaced by AT93C46D. The new devices are pin-to-pin and backward compatible with the current AT93C46 devices. The new devices will be available in 2.5 volt (2.5V up to 5.5V) and Green Packaging only. “P” in the catalogue part number signifies Pb/Halogen-Free/RoHS compliant, with NiPdAu lead finish. See Attachment A for direct replacement.

The Serial EEPROM Automotive Grade AT93C46A device (3-wire interface, 1-Kbit density and only x16 data format memory organization) has reached End-of-Life due to low customer demand. See Attachment A for suggested replacement.

- 29APR09: PCN #: RC090301 – AT91SAM7X revision and ordering code change.

The following errata have been corrected: PIO leakage on PB27-PB30

A new errata has been identified on the SPI. In case the SPI is reset by software (SWRST in SPI control register) the command should be written twice. The errata is documented in the AT91SAM7XC full datasheet dated 26-Jan-09, reference 6120H in section 41.4.7.7

- 30APR09: PCN #: NC091601 – The ATMEL Colorado Springs (US) wafer fabrication facility has been added for the above noted devices to ensure an uninterrupted flow of product to meet customer production demands. The facility will manufacture the parts to the same specification as the current manufacturing location, SMIC (CN), and will meet all the datasheet parameters. The Colorado Springs parts will be compatible in form, fit, and function, and will be a drop-in replacement to products that are currently being produced at SMIC.

- 30APR09: EOL #: SE091705 – Atmel hereby announces that the Product Family AT27C516 of EPROM (27 Series) product line has reached End-of-Life. These devices will be discontinued with no direct pin-out replacement.
