Zumba Fitness® Party Arrives For Kids

Company Launches Latin Rhythms Workout for Children Ages 4-12

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Zumba®, the acclaimed fitness-party workout that features contagious Latin rhythms and boasts a global following of millions, announced today it has launched Zumbatomic®, an original workout program designed specifically for girls and boys ages 4-12.

“The philosophy behind the Zumba Fitness program is the key combination of fitness and fun, and we applied that same principle when developing Zumbatomic,” said Alberto Perlman, co-founder and CEO of Zumba Fitness. “Studies show that children can benefit greatly from an active lifestyle as it contributes to a child’s self-esteem and overall positive development, and that was our ultimate goal when creating the fun and hip kid’s fitness program, Zumbatomic.”

More than 1,000 instructors have already been trained to teach Zumbatomic at gyms and community centers around the world. Long-time fitness veteran and Zumba Fitness Vice President of Education Koh Herlong, Zumba instructor Gina Grant, and fitness greats Ted Vickey of FitWell who serves on the board of directors for the American Council on Exercise and former Reebok Master Trainer and fitness legend Joy Prouty developed the Zumbatomic training workshop, which includes a background manual on children’s fitness. Instructors who participate in the Zumbatomic training course will receive credits from the American Council on Exercise and the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America as well as continuing education credit opportunities.

According to Perlman, each week seven-and-a-half million people take a Zumba class globally and four million Zumba DVD’s have been sold for at-home Zumba classes since 2002. “Zumbatomic is a natural progression for us following the popularity of our adult Zumba program,” he added. “The U.S. is currently facing an obesity epidemic, and families are seeking activities they can participate in together. Zumba and Zumbatomic offer the perfect workout party for the whole family, and we’re thrilled to develop programs that may help fight this growing disease.”

A quick note about the Zumba® trademark

The word ZUMBA® was coined by our company and is the brand name for our fun and effective fitness program that combines easy-to-follow moves with invigorating Latin and international rhythms. When referring to ZUMBA® we ask that you please keep in mind the following to protect the thousands of instructors worldwide who make their careers teaching Zumba Fitness classes:

Please do not:

·  Use Zumba as a verb -- for example, “once you zumba, you’ll be hooked.”

·  Use Zumba as a noun -- for example, “zumba is my favorite exercise.”

·  Use Zumba as a generic term -- for example, as a name for a fitness program “My gym offers zumba.”

Instead, please do:

·  Capitalize the letter “Z” or the whole word "ZUMBA"

·  Refer to “the Zumba Fitness program,” “Zumba class,” “Zumba instructor” etc. – for example “The Zumba Fitness program is the most fun you’ll ever have while working out” or “I love my Zumba instructor, she’s the best.”

·  Use the® symbol on the right hand shoulder of the word Zumba®- especially in headers and title
